In what has become entirely too common, Israeli soldiers have killed two more young Palestinians. The soldiers also shot at paramedics. Israeli forces have killed 117 Palestinians in the past six months, while 8 Israelis have died. The Palestinian death toll in the West Bank is already the highest on record in a single year since 2015.
21-year-old Alaa Nasser Ahmed Zaghal was shot dead by a bullet to the head. As Israeli soldiers tried to flush out a different person taking cover inside a house, they also shot others in the area – including journalists. More than 165 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire this year: 51 in the Gaza Strip and at least 110 in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. 18 Israelis have also died.
In Jenin on Wednesday, Israeli soldiers targeted not just resistance fighters, but also reporters, ambulances, and medics. Nearby schools – including a kindergarten – were under threat, and Palestinians protesting this brutality were assaulted.
This is not an isolated Israeli attack, nor is it a mere retaliation for the killing of an Israeli soldier. This is a military superpower prohibiting legal resistance and protest against its illegal occupation. Some in Israeli media have surmised that israel is purposely provoking another intifada (uprising). The Palestinian death toll this month alone is now up to 18 (1 Israeli is also dead.).
Gideon Levy asks, what did you expect? No people that has suffered as the Palestinian people has suffered will remain quiet, and that includes the Palestinian people between Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, and Jenin in the West Bank. Of course they will resist Israel’s brutal occupation, and it’s what Israel wants: an intifada, an excuse to spill Palestinian blood.
A visit to a West Bank ‘terrorist village,’ where the family of Uday Salah is in mourning. The teen was shot to death by an Israeli sniper during a nighttime army raid, after the killing of an Israeli officer, allegedly by someone in the town.
On Sunday, invading Israeli forces ambushed Sa’ed al-Koni, 26. He had tried to resist the illegal and brutal Israeli occupation.
In a 4-hour raid on a Palestinian village, Israeli soldiers shot teenager Odai Salah in the head with an expanding bullet, killing him, shot several others, stormed and ransacked homes, and threatened members of the Palestinian press.
Odai’s father stated, “The whole Palestinian people is like Odai. Killings have become daily, they happen in a monstrous way. We no longer have any dreams in this country.”
Two more Palestinian young men were killed near Jenin, a a city in the occupied West Bank where Israel has staged many violent invasions in recent weeks, bringing the total killed this month to ten. An Israeli soldier also died – the first Israeli killed since May 5th. At least 83 Palestinians have been killed during that time.
Invading Israeli forces first shot 20-year-old Mohammad Tamimi in the head when he was 15 – and that was just the beginning of their attacks on him… including, most recently, another bullet to the head…
An Israeli journalist notes that Israel’s efforts to thwart Palestinian resistance simply create grounds for more resistance. Only ending the occupation will end the resistance.
