Israel has killed 20 journalists with impunity since 2000

The May 11, 2022, killing of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is part of a deadly, decades-long pattern. Over 22 years, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has documented at least 20 journalists killed by Israeli forces. Despite numerous IDF probes, no one has ever been charged or held responsible for these deaths. The impunity in these cases has severely undermined the freedom of the press, leaving the rights of journalists uncertain.

Invading Israeli forces kill 4 Palestinians including young woman

A 26-year-old Palestinian woman was shot in the chest, and 3 Palestinian men were killed in a massive invasion by Israeli forces. In both cases, paramedics were blocked from assisting the injured. (Israelis have now killed 108 Palestinians in 2023, including 19 minors; in response, Palestinians have killed under 20 Israelis, including 4 minors.)

Palestinian hunger striker Khader Adnan dies in prison

Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan, who’s been arrested 14 times and spent over 8 years in Israeli prisons, died today after an 87-day hunger strike – his 5th – in protest of his illegal administrative detention by Israel. Israel refused to allow his family to visit him even as his condition deteriorated. He was one of ~600 Palestinians held without charge or trial. The NYT didn’t report on the strike until he died.
