‘I will not stop fighting for Palestine’: After Israel’s sea raid, Gaza flotilla activists prepare to sail again: After Israel detained 175 activists at sea, Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers in Greece are regrouping for a second mission to challenge Gaza’s siege.
UN urges Israel to allow life-saving aid into Gaza ‘through all means’ after interception of Sumud flotilla: “This is not the first time Israel intercepts unarmed civilian vessels sailing toward Gaza, in international waters,” spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan said. “International law provides for the freedom of navigation on the high seas and does not allow for the interception of foreign civilian vessels in all but a very limited set of circumstances.”
Israel’s western, Arab partners helped coordinate abduction of Gaza flotilla activists: The Israeli army reportedly used the US Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC), to coordinate with military officers from several countries to obstruct the Global Freedom Flotilla, which carried humanitarian aid for Gaza. The CMCC was established in 2025 by Trump’s “Board of Peace” to oversee the entry of humanitarian aid and reconstruction of Gaza.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM GAZA:
For some basic info on the Palestine-Israel conflict, go here. For more critical context, skim this, this, and this. To read about a remarkable but underreported, 20-month-long peaceful protest in Gaza against Israel, go here.
Think Gaza is ok now, 7 months into ceasefire? Think again: The UN Secretary‑General said Gaza’s civilian population continues to face one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent decades, calling for immediate, unhindered humanitarian access and protection of civilians. Large sections of northern and central Gaza remain inaccessible, leaving thousands of families without food, medical supplies, or the ability to reach hospitals. Many wounded Palestinians are dying from treatable injuries due to the absence of surgical capacity, electricity, medical supplies, and safe transport to functioning hospitals.

Israeli maps outline expanded zone of military control in Gaza: New maps of Gaza quietly issued by Israel have put thousands of displaced Palestinians inside an expanded restricted area, within boundaries the military says it can continue to change.
The restricted area, marked on the maps with an orange line, makes up an estimated 11% of Gaza’s territory beyond the “Yellow Line” demarcating the part of Gaza occupied by Israeli troops since an October ceasefire. The areas cordon off at least 64% of Gaza’s territory in total.
US to close its flagship Gaza mission as Trump plan stalls, sources say: The US Civil Military Coordination Center or CMCC, a U.S. military-run body near Gaza, that critics say failed in its mission to monitor the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and boost aid flows to Palestinians, is reportedly set to be shut by the Trump administration.
Trump’s Gaza plan has already been undermined by repeated Israeli attacks since the October truce and Hamas’ refusal to lay down its arms. Diplomats say the CMCC lacked authority to enforce the ceasefire or ensure aid.

- 72,599 killed (~22,000 children, 33,000 women and girls) since October 2023

ISRAEL-US WAR/CEASEFIRE ON IRAN – NEWS & HEADLINES:
It can not be overemphasized that Israel is the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.
The American people have made clear that they do not want the US embroiled in a war with Iran, but Israel partisans and the Israel lobby use their massive political clout to bring about whatever is beneficial to Israel – including putting the US military in harm’s way. For more background on Israel’s role in American wars, watch IAK’s short film, “The Israeli Hit List.“
Iran offers new peace proposal to US but Trump ‘not satisfied’: Trump did not elaborate on what he saw as the latest proposal’s shortcomings, but said: “They’re asking for things I can’t agree to.”
The US Navy’s seizure of Iranian ships is “a very profitable business,” President Trump said on Friday, adding, “Who would have thought, we’re sort of like pirates, but we’re not playing games.”
The US-Israeli war on Iran has sharply increased the cost and time required to deliver humanitarian aid, disrupting supply routes and delaying relief for some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, according to the UN refugee agency, UNHCR. Transport costs have surged in parallel.
Trump says he is ‘not happy’ with Italy, Spain amid split on Iran: ‘They feel it’s okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon. Anybody that feels it’s okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon is not very smart,’ says US president.
DEATH TOLL – WAR ON IRAN (tentative):
- United States: 13 (or more)
- Iran: at least 3,636 (1,701 civilians, 254 children)
- Israel: 30 (16 Israeli soldiers, and 1 friendly fire – including both Iran and Lebanon-related deaths; another count shows 20 Israeli civilian deaths)
- Arab states (including Palestine, excluding Lebanon), at least 154

ISRAEL’S WAR/CEASEFIRE ON LEBANON – NEWS & HEADLINES:
Israel has invaded Lebanon seven times in the last half century. Between 1978 and 2000, Israel maintained an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon — Hezbollah was formed to fight that occupation.
Although Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in November 2024, Israel has attacked Lebanon almost every day since, committing over 10,000 air and ground violations – the most violated ceasefire deal in recorded history – and killing at least 397. (Read about UNIFIL, the UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, here.)
At least 12 people have been killed, including a child, in southern Lebanon, as Israel continues its strikes despite a ceasefire.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM SYRIA:
Although Israel is not at war with Syria, the Israeli army has carried out over 1,000 airstrikes and 400 cross-border raids on Syria since December 2024. Israel has demanded the demilitarization of southern Syria, allegedly to prevent any “potential threat” from post-war Syria – but has vowed to stay permanently in what seems to be an informal border expansion.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:
Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.
