Israeli snipers targeting participants in Gaza’s weekly Great Return March protests have aimed for the legs—and eyes. To date, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that 50 protesters have been shot in the eye since the demonstrations began March 30, 2018—leaving them permanently blind.
Israeli forces used lethal force against hundreds of thousands of Palestinian protesters marking a year since the beginning of the Gaza Great Return March and commemorating Land Day. Among the wounded are 86 children and 29 women. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza reports that Israeli soldiers have killed 266 Palestinians and injured 30398 others since the Return March processions started on March 30, 2018.

U.S. media largely ignored The Great March of Return that lasted almost two years. PBS was perhaps the most egregious example. See the Frontline film that PBS refused to show Americans. Had this film not been blocked, quite likely vastly more Americans would have seen Palestinians’ courageous attempt to use nonviolence… and perhaps the desperate October 7th breakout would not have occurred.
The Associated Press shows yet again its affinity for whitewashing Israel’s crimes: this time, downplaying the death of a toddler at the whims of Israel’s harsh permit system. AP rarely covers Palestinian deaths in detail – it’s disappointing that when they did report on one, they misrepresented the context.
German publishing house Axel Springer, which recently acquired Politico & Business Insider, requires from “every employee of our company” a commitment to Israel’s right to exist.
As Israel – recipient of billions of US taxpayer dollars a year – kills, wounds, and abducts Palestinians of all ages, the Associated Press continues its practice of downplaying or omitting news about Israeli violence. Articles highlighted in AP’s Morning Wire newsletter confirm the outlet’s ongoing bias.
