A study of AP’s 2018 reports on Palestinians and Israelis killed found that AP headlines reported on Israeli deaths at a rate four times greater than on Palestinian deaths, and that articles were almost three times longer. In this frank, and frankly courageous piece, Philip Weiss lays bare the agenda of the Israel lobby and how it has manipulated the American Jewish community and the US government for decades. But, he predicts, the lobby is dying, and in its wake, peace is achievable.
Press groups concerned about US jailing of Iranian news anchor; court appearances shrouded in mystery
Committee to Protect Journalists and PEN call for Justice Department to state why it has jailed US citizen Marzieh Hashemi, a prominent journalist with Iran’s Press TV. FBI & Justice Dept refuse to comment… possible court appearances not listed in dockets…
This is truly shocking: media giant BBC is bossed around by Israel. The headline “Israeli air strikes kill pregnant woman and baby” magically become “Gaza air strikes ‘kill woman and child’ after rockets hit Israel” when Israel’s foreign ministry spokesman ordered it to be changed “IMMEDIATELY.” A BBC spokesperson admitted that “although the original headline was not factually incorrect, we updated it to add more context to the story”. PBS recently presented an excellent report on Israeli sniper violence at the Gaza border, but headlined it with a pro-Israel spin. The truth is simply too damning to be presented un-spun to an American audience. Philip Weiss discusses the report and how it was packaged.
Media are attacking the Congresswomen by claiming that the group sponsoring their proposed trip ‘promoted blood libels.’ The claim is based on one item briefly posted on the NGO’s website six years ago… and the news reports don’t mention that the item quoted an Israeli news report about a book (since retracted) by a prominent Israeli historian saying there was “a factual basis for some of the medieval blood libels against the Jews…”
