ISRAEL-US WAR/CEASEFIRE ON IRAN – NEWS & HEADLINES:
It can not be overemphasized that Israel is the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.
The American people have made clear that they do not want the US embroiled in a war with Iran, but Israel partisans and the Israel lobby use their massive political clout to bring about whatever is beneficial to Israel – including putting the US military in harm’s way. For more background on Israel’s role in American wars, watch IAK’s short film, “The Israeli Hit List.”
One of the greatest tragedies of this war has been the deliberate targeting of Iran’s medical facilities: By targeting the century-old Pasteur Institute and the Tofigh Daru pharmaceutical complex, the US and Israel has erased decades of global research and innovation.
Iran Says Nearly Half of Iranians Killed by US-Israeli Bombing Campaign Were Civilians: An Iranian official said on Sunday that nearly half of the Iranians killed by the US-Israeli bombing campaign that lasted from February 28 to April 8 were civilians, as strikes pounded civilian targets throughout the war. An advisor at Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs said that at least 3,468 were killed by the US-Israeli strikes, of which 1,460 were identified as civilians.
US is being ‘humiliated’ by Iran’s leadership, says Friedrich Merz: German chancellor suggests Trump administration is being outwitted at negotiating table by Tehran.
DEATH TOLL – WAR ON IRAN (tentative):
- United States: 13 (this number is believed by some to be an undercount)
- Iran: at least 3,636 (1,701 civilians, 254 children)
- Israel: 30 (including 16 Israeli soldiers, and 1 friendly fire – including both Iran and Lebanon-related deaths; another count shows 20 Israeli civilian deaths)
- Arab states (including Palestine, excluding Lebanon), at least 154

ISRAEL’S WAR/CEASEFIRE ON LEBANON – NEWS & HEADLINES:
Israel has invaded Lebanon seven times in the last half century. Between 1978 and 2000, Israel maintained an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon — Hezbollah was formed to fight that occupation.
Although Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in November 2024, Israel has attacked Lebanon almost every day since, committing over 10,000 air and ground violations – the most violated ceasefire deal in recorded history – and killing at least 397. (Read about UNIFIL, the UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, here.)
At least four people were killed and 51 injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Monday, the Health Ministry said. Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes, shelling, and demolition operations.
UN reports ‘one of highest volumes’ of Israeli firing incidents south of Blue Line in Lebanon: Peacekeepers recorded on Monday 299 incidents of firing originating from Israeli forces, among highest since ceasefire took effect on April 17, a UN spokesperson says. UN peacekeepers in Lebanon (UNIFIL) observed one projectile, presumably from Hezbollah, intercepted by Israeli forces.

Nine more Palestinians have been killed and 18 others injured in Gaza over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry and medical sources said Monday, as Israel continued its ceasefire violations.
Israel-backed militias attempting to seize control of Gaza from Hamas: Israel’s military strategy in Gaza has evolved beyond direct occupation into a fragmentation campaign, backing at least five Palestinian armed groups in an attempt to dismantle Hamas governance and create a chaotic security vacuum that deepens control over the war-torn enclave, a new report by Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) argues.
“As long as Israel continues providing these groups with weapons, training, and other support, their activities are likely to intensify”, Nasser Khdour, ACLED’s Middle East assistant manager, said, arguing this will make Hamas “even less willing to compromise on disarmament”.
ISRAELI MEDIA: Rats, Fleas and Endless Queues: Inside the Daily Misery of Gaza’s Tent Camps: “The Israeli authorities have approved the import of essential pesticides, insecticides, and equipment to support implementation of the plan,” the report stated. Who knows how long it will take between approval and the arrival of the materials.
DEATH TOLL – GAZA GENOCIDE (tentative):
- At least 818 since ceasefire began Oct. 11, 2025
- 72,593 killed (~22,000 children, 33,000 women and girls) since October 2023

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:
Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.
ISRAELI MEDIA: New opposition ticket that wants to topple Netanyahu is also Jewish supremacist: “The Arab parties* are not Zionist and therefore we will not rely on them,” Bennett said. It is a sign of moral poverty for a camp that waves the flags of democracy and liberalism. We shouldn’t normalize the idea of a “Zionist” opposition to cover up its ambition to establish a purely Jewish government. There is no democracy without Arabs [i.e. Palestinians].
*NOTE: This is yet more proof of Israel’s apartheid framework, which encompasses most of the political spectrum. Israeli apartheid extends in various forms across Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and inside Israel (where 21% of residents are Palestinian).
Multiple human rights organizations have documented and reported that Israel is indeed practicing apartheid, including: Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Israeli human rights groups B’Tselem, and Yesh Din , the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, the International Court of Justice, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic.

*NOTE: The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on Nov. 21, 2024, over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, where more than 72,000 people have been killed in a brutal assault since Oct. 2023. Several Hamas members were also charged, but Israel has since assassinated them.
MORE NEWS & HEADLINES:
In 2025, governments worldwide allocated an all-time high of $2.887 trillion to military spending, according to the most recent report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) published on 27 April. The US remained the largest military spender at $954 billion, despite a 7.5 percent decline compared to 2024, with SIPRI attributing the drop to the absence of new military aid for Ukraine after $127 billion had been approved over the previous three years.
$30m an hour: big oil reaping huge war windfall from consumers, analysis finds: The world’s top 100 oil and gas companies banked more than $30m every hour in unearned profit in the first month of the US-Israeli war in Iran, according to exclusive analysis for the Guardian. Saudi Aramco, Gazprom and ExxonMobil are among the biggest beneficiaries of the bonanza, meaning key opponents of climate action continue to prosper.
