ISRAEL’S WAR ON LEBANON – NEWS & HEADLINES:
Although Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in November 2024, Israel has attacked Lebanon almost every day since, committing over 10,000 air and ground violations – the most violated ceasefire deal in recorded history – and killing at least 397. Additionally, Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, and other Lebanese areas it has held for decades. (Read about UNIFIL, the UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, here.)
The death toll from Israel’s wave of attacks on April 8 has risen to 357, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Friday. The figures remain preliminary as rescue teams continue clearing rubble; a large number of remains require DNA testing to confirm the identities of victims.
Israel pushing for US window to launch ‘powerful strike’ on Lebanon before ceasefire: Report: The Israeli daily Maariv reported on Friday that “sensitive” negotiations were taking place behind the scenes aimed at giving the Israeli army additional time to launch intensive attacks against Lebanese group Hezbollah, followed by US pressure to calm the northern front. Israeli officials believe “the score with Hezbollah is not settled,” and that de-escalation could not proceed before delivering a strong blow.
*NOTE: Israel has been notorious for breaking ceasefires. Although Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in November 2024, Israel has attacked Lebanon almost every day since, committing over 10,000 air and ground violations – the most violated ceasefire deal in recorded history. If Netanyahu doesn’t get the green light from Trump to attack Lebanon before the ceasefire, history suggests it will likely attack after the ceasefire is in place.
Trump Reportedly Agreed to Include Lebanon in Ceasefire But Lied About It Anyway

ISRAEL-US WAR/CEASEFIRE ON IRAN – NEWS & HEADLINES:
It can not be overemphasized that Israel has been the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran for years. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.
The American people have made clear that they do not want to go to war with Iran, but Israel partisans and the Israel lobby use their massive political clout to bring about whatever is beneficial to Israel – including putting the US military in harm’s way. For more background on Israel’s role in American wars, watch IAK’s short film, “The Israeli Hit List.”
Trump warns of fresh strikes if Iran talks fail – New York Post: “We have a reset going. We’re loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made – even better than what we did previously and we blew them apart,” the Post quoted Trump as saying. “And if we don’t have a deal, we will be using them, and we will be using them very effectively. We’re going to find out in about 24 hours. We’re going to know soon.”
Kamal Kharazi, ex-top diplomat dies* from wounds sustained in US-Israel ‘terrorist attack’: Former Iranian foreign minister “who was wounded in a terrorist attack carried out by the American-Zionist enemy a few days ago, died a martyr tonight,” Iranian media report. Kharazi, 81, had been serving as the head of the Strategic Council for International Relations, which is part of the foreign ministry.
*NOTE: Killing negotiators is apparently one of Israel’s war strategies.
Iran Red Crescent says over 125,000 civilian units damaged in US-Israeli attacks

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM THE OCCUPIED WEST BANK/EAST JERUSALEM:
Every day, Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem endure dozens of incidents like the ones below, at the hands of Israeli soldiers and/or settlers. For background on the West Bank, read this and this. For information on the significance of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, read this and this.)
Israel orders confiscation of 8.1 acres of land in Nablus village – to benefit illegal settlers*: Israeli authorities issued an order Friday to clear 33 dunams (8.1 acres) of land in the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya in southern Nablus in the occupied West Bank. Sources said the order includes uprooting hundreds of fruit-bearing trees, particularly olive and almond trees, and that Israel’s pretext for the land grab was “providing security for settlers.”
*NOTE: More than 700,000 settlers live illegally on Palestinian land in over 500 settlements and settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Some settler groups have a history of violence against Palestinians, often with the assistance of Israeli military forces. Learn more about Israeli settler violence here and here.
In a landmark advisory opinion on July 19, 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land “illegal” and demanded the evacuation of all settlements. Israeli settlers are sometimes referred to as “colonizers.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:
Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.
Smotrich speaks about Israel’s intention to expand* in Syria, Lebanon and Gaza: “We are in the final diplomatic stage in the West Bank that would completely eliminate the idea of establishing a Palestinian state…The state is based on a combination of military power and political will, along with faith and love of the homeland. There is a political and military aspect based on courage, will, faith and love of the homeland.”
*NOTE: This expansionist rhetoric refers to Greater Israel. Read about it here, or watch the video below.
Netanyahu requests postponing his corruption trial for ‘secret security and political reasons’
‘I wished for death’: Sexual violence in Israel’s prisons is an ‘organized state policy’: Palestinian testimonies reveal how sexual violence, including rape using objects and dogs, is approved by ‘highest levels’ of Israeli leadership. “Especially in a conservative society where anything related to sexual assault is seen as an attack on the dignity of the entire family. It is a complex crime that deeply impacts and fractures the very fabric of society.”

*NOTE: Although Israel is not at war with Syria, the Israeli army has carried out over 1,000 airstrikes and 400 cross-border raids on Syria since December 2024. The situation appears to meet the criteria for occupation.
