Israeli airstrikes killed at least 61 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip Monday, among them 59 aid-seeking residents who were shot in the ‘hunger games’ style so-called ‘aid distribution’ sites run by the Christian Zionist US company GHF. Over 200 others were injured when Israeli forces opened fire on hundreds of people waiting near aid distribution points – over 50 of the injured are in critical condition.
Medical sources reported that the death toll among aid recipients has risen to 397 martyrs and 3,031 wounded since May 27 .

For Families Sheltering in Nylon Tents, Gaza’s Scorching Summer Is Unbearable
Thousands of Gazans are now living in tents after losing their homes or being forcibly displaced following the expansion of Israeli military operations on April 3, 2025. Many describe summer in these tents as “hell,” as they lack even the simplest means to cope with the intense heat amid a complete electricity blackout.
Most of the tents are made of nylon, offering no protection from the blazing sun. Instead, they trap heat and turn into unbearable ovens. Areej Alkataib, 40, shared that the intense heat has turned her tent into a suffocating grave. “I try to spray water over the nylon from time to time to reduce the heat, but all my efforts are in vain. I always seek refuge outside despite the harsh conditions, as I cannot endure the heat inside,” she told me.
The intense heat inside the tents is only part of the crisis, as swarms of flies and mosquitoes infest these tents as a result of the complete absence of sewage services and the decomposition of accumulated waste, making daily life unbearable. Alkataib described how the insects constantly bother her and bite her children, often keeping them from sleeping. She added that the flies spoil both the food and water. “It’s hard to store anything — I always find insects in the food, no matter how tightly I try to cover it,” she said (continue reading here).
Global March To Gaza convoy retreats as Libyan authorities thwart activists
On 16 June, the “Sumud” convoy, (‘Resilience’ in Arabic) – part of the Global March To Gaza movement – retreated to the Libyan town of Misrata, 200 kilometers east of Tripoli, after being blocked by authorities in the country’s east.
Organizers said the convoy had been placed under “military blockade” and a “systematic siege,” with participants denied access to food, water, medicine, and communication.
Several members were arrested, including at least three bloggers who had been documenting the convoy’s journey since it departed Tunisia on 9 June.
NOTABLE QUOTE ON GAZA:
Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights:
The facts speak for themselves. Everyone in government needs to wake up to what is happening in Gaza. All those with influence must exert maximum pressure on Israel and Hamas, to put an end to this unbearable suffering.
Israel’s means and methods of warfare are inflicting horrifying, unconscionable suffering on Palestinians in Gaza.
We are on an indefensible path of escalating conflict and open disregard for international human rights and humanitarian law.
IRAN-ISRAEL NEWS SNAPSHOTS:
Iran continues to report 224 deaths (the same number as yesterday) from Israeli attacks.
A doctor at a major hospital in Tehran believes the actual death toll is much higher than official reports let on.
Israel claims 20 have been killed in Iranian attacks.
A spokesperson for the Iranian ministry of health, Hossein Kermanpour, said more than 90% of casualties were civilians. The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, claimed Israel was exclusively hitting targets belonging to the Iranian government.
Iran has reportedly arrested dozens of Mossad spies and collaborators, who are employed by Israel to carry out drone strikes, anti-tank missile attacks, car bombings, and sabotage operations throughout Iran.
The Israeli army ordered residents of a district in Tehran where government ministries and foreign embassies are located to evacuate on Monday: “In the coming hours, the IDF (army) will operate in the region to attack military structures of the Iranian regime, as it has done across Tehran in recent days,” the army said.
An Israeli strike in western Iran on Monday heavily damaged a hospital, as the conflict between the two regional rivals escalated. Later, another hospital in the western region was also seriously damaged.
Israel is using its ballistic missile interceptors at a rapid clip after four days of war with Iran, a senior US official familiar with efforts to resupply Israel told Middle East Eye. In some quarters of the US government, there are concerns that a direct US strike on Iran could lead to bigger Iranian retaliation against Israel that would drain the US’s global stockpile of missile interceptors to a “horrendous” level, the official said.
The cost to Israel of fending off each barrage can reach a billion shekels ($287 million), according to Boaz Levy, CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries.
Iran’s attacks on Israel since Friday have reportedly resulted in damages estimated at around 1 billion shekels ($277 million), with the Israeli Tax Authority already having received 9,900 claims.
Iman Shamsaei, head of communications and media at the Iranian parliament, on the possibility of Iran withdrawing from the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT): “When the balanced rights and obligations of member states under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty are not respected, and certain aggressive regimes that are not party to the treaty freely commit acts of aggression and issue threats against committed member states, continuing to implement voluntary commitments becomes unjustified.”
Far right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir instructed Israel’s Shin Bet domestic security agency and police to crack down on foreign media outlets and civilians who allegedly express joy over Iranian missile attacks. Ben-Gvir added that prison guards have cracked down on inmates who express joy over the Iranian strikes.
US President Donald Trump repeated the order later: “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
NOTE: President Trump formally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), aka the Iran nuclear deal, while maintaining that “[i]t is the policy of the United States that Iran be denied a nuclear weapon and intercontinental ballistic missiles.” Since then, the Trump Administration unilaterally re-imposed crippling sanctions on Iran and antagonized US allies by forcing them to comply or risk financial isolation.
In retaliation for the Trump Administration’s decision to leave the JCPOA, Iran incrementally stepped back from compliance. Iran’s proximity to a nuclear weapon capability has gradually increased due to the Trump Administration’s policies.

Assassinating Khamenei would ‘end war’: Netanyahu
The assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would “end” the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday as he refused to rule out taking the action amid the highly volatile regional conflict.
“It’s not going to escalate the conflict, it’s going to end the conflict,” Netanyahu said during an interview with ABC News. “The ‘forever war’ is what Iran wants, and they’re bringing us to the brink of nuclear war. In fact, what Israel is doing is preventing this, bringing an end to this aggression, and we can only do so by standing up to the forces of evil.”
Earlier reports suggested that President Donald Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Khamenei.
Asked if Israel would target the Iranian leader, Netanyahu said Israel is “doing what we need to do.”
NOTE: Israel has been demonizing and prodding the US toward war with Iran for years, with help from well-placed Washington insiders (both Democrats and Republicans) and mainstream media.
The Israeli military deliberately bombed the studio of an Iranian state television network during a live broadcast on Monday, an attack that Iran swiftly condemned as a “war crime.”
Shortly before the attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that the “Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappearing,” then stated after the attack, “The Iranian regime’s propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority was attacked by the IDF after a widespread evacuation of residents in the area.”
Targeting journalists and media infrastructure is prohibited under international law—and the use of media facilities for propaganda purposes does not render them legitimate military targets.
The IDF claimed, without providing any evidence, that the targeted building “was being used for military purposes by the Iranian Armed Forces.”
Sara Qudah, Middle East and North Africa regional director for the Committee to Protect Journalists, said Monday, “Israel’s killing, with impunity, of almost 200 journalists in Gaza has emboldened it to target media elsewhere in the region. This bloodshed must end now.”
Report: Israel threatens “Dahiya-style” assault on Tehran in bid to destabilize Iran
Israel is preparing a “Dahiya-style” military operation targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran. The plan, disclosed by Israeli broadcaster Channel 14, reportedly seeks to destabilise Iran’s government through systematic bombing of strategic sites while coercing mass evacuation from densely populated areas.
The operation, is said to have been greenlit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, draws directly from Israel’s controversial military doctrine first employed during its 2006 war on Lebanon. utilizing a deliberate strategy of “disproportionate force” and the targeting of civilian infrastructure to achieve political objectives.
The Dahiya Doctrine represents a formal Israeli military strategy of deliberate and complete destruction. The doctrine openly advocates for the obliteration of entire civilian neighborhoods. Human rights groups and legal experts have long condemned it as a doctrine of annihilation—tantamount to collective punishment—intended to erase communities under the guise of military necessity.
Under international law, such tactics, particularly those that fail to distinguish between civilian and combatant populations, are explicitly prohibited. Yet Israeli officials have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to the doctrine.
Flight-tracking websites showed dozens of Air Force aerial refueling planes departing from military bases in the United States and heading to Europe on Sunday, fueling speculation of direct U.S. involvement in the widening Israeli-Iranian war.
Military-focused news sites reported that around 30 U.S. Air Force KC-135R and KC-46A tankers were identified by flight-tracking software in what The Times of Israel called an “unprecedented mass deployment” to Europe.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, two U.S. officials told Reuters Monday that the tankers are being deployed to provide the administration of President Donald Trump with flexibility to act in the Middle East. Military experts said the deployment could portend expanded U.S. support for Israel’s war on Iran or even American strikes against the country (continue reading here).

US senator introduces legislation to prevent war with Iran
US Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, introduced a war powers resolution Monday to prevent war with Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
“It is not in our national security interest to get into a war with Iran unless that war is absolutely necessary to defend the United States. I am deeply concerned that the recent escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran could quickly pull the United States into another endless conflict,” Kaine said.
“This resolution will ensure that if we decide to place our nation’s men and women in uniform into harm’s way, we will have a debate and vote on it in Congress,” he added.
