(While a “ceasefire” is ostensibly in place, Israel has continued its assault on Gaza without interruption. If Americans Knew considers the war to be ongoing, and in its 761st day.)
On Tuesday, hospitals received the bodies of four Palestinians: three killed in recent attacks and one recovered from the ruins of a collapsed building.
Since the “ceasefire” began, Israel has killed at least 241 Palestinians, including 97 children, with approximately 609 others injured.
Israel has violated the truce agreement at least 194 times.

Israeli army says it killed two Palestinians in central Gaza
The Israeli army says it has killed two Palestinians in separate incidents in central Gaza earlier today, claiming they had crossed the so-called Yellow Line and approached soldiers “in a manner that posed an immediate threat.” They were “eliminated,” as has been the case with dozens of other Palestinians since the ceasefire began.
Little information has been given about the location of this line, and it is still being physically marked on the ground, presenting another deadly hazard for Palestinians.
🟨“They placed this so-called ‘yellow line’ so people can’t go there but why can’t we?” asks a Palestinian man in North Gaza near the boundary. “Our homes are there. We can’t even cross to get our winter clothes.”

Gaza: Environmental Genocide
On the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in Armed Conflict, the Palestinian Environment Quality Authority revealed that the genocide in Gaza has generated approximately 60 million tons of rubble, alongside an estimated 100,000 tons of explosives—with a destructive capacity equivalent to nine nuclear bombs.
This has obliterated ecosystems and infrastructure, including water, sewage, solid waste, and energy systems, while contaminating the sea, soil, and air. The long-term environmental consequences are expected to persist for decades.

An integrated catch-up campaign for routine immunization, nutrition, and growth monitoring for children in Gaza is being launched by UN agencies, including UNICEF, UNRWA, World Health Organization (WHO), and partners, in collaboration with the Palestinian Health Ministry. They hope to reach 44,000 children who were cut off from essential life-saving services by two years of conflict.
The water crisis in Gaza has reached a “catastrophic level,” says municipality spokesperson Hosni Mhanna. The amount of water currently reaching Gaza does not exceed 15 percent of its actual daily need. Only 17 out of 88 wells are operational, while the central desalination plant is completely out of service.
Israel returned the remains of 15 more Palestinians on Wednesday under a Gaza ceasefire agreement with Hamas, medics said, bringing the number of Palestinian bodies returned by Israel since the ceasefire took effect to 285. Previous returned remains showed signs of abuse, including beatings, bound hands, blindfolds, and facial disfigurement, and were returned without names.

Israel plans to build 356 new settlement* units
Israel’s Ministry of Construction and Housing has published two tenders this week for the construction of 356 new housing units in a settlement southeast of the Palestinian city of Ramallah. The project will require seizing about 150 dunams (37 acres) of Palestinian land.
So far this year, tenders have been published for 5,667 settlement housing units, which is by far the highest annual total ever recorded. If all these homes are built, another 25,000 settlers could live in the occupied West Bank, Peace Now said.
*NOTE: Israel has illegally built around 280 settlements on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are home to more than 700,000 illegal settlers. Some settler groups have a history of violence against Palestinians, often with the assistance of Israeli military forces (a phenomenon that has grown significantly worse since October 7th, 2023).
In a landmark advisory opinion on July 19, 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land “illegal” and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Israeli forces have destroyed a poultry farm and killed thousands of chickens in the West Bank. The soldiers reportedly stormed a poultry farm, electrocuted 7,000 laying hens, and demolished their 1,000sq-metre (10,765sq-ft) structure. The farm owner estimated his losses at more than 500,000 shekels ($130,000).
Israeli colonists assaulted a 75-year-old Palestinian man, leaving him with bruises and contusions, which necessitated his transfer to a hospital for treatment. The settlers also smashed furniture, destroyed household items, and scrawled racist slogans on the walls of his home, as well as wounding his wife.

NEWS & HEADLINES ABOUT ISRAEL:
Israel received the remains of another hostage from the Palestinian group Hamas, via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) late Wednesday under its ceasefire agreement with Israel.
Israel continued its deadly attacks on southern Lebanon, killing 1 in a drone strike on 5 November, as reports said Washington has asked Tel Aviv to “exercise restraint” until the end of the month. Israel has killed at least 111 civilians since a ceasefire was declared almost a year ago.
The Israeli army renewed its incursions into southern Syria on Wednesday, in the latest violation of the country’s sovereignty, according to local media. The Israeli army has carried out over 1,000 airstrikes on Syria and more than 400 cross-border raids into the southern provinces since December 2024, according to government data.

Anti-Israel Jews* Helped Elect Mamdani
Vote analysis shows approximately 33% of New York Jews voted for Mamdani. This is an astonishing figure. How do we explain it? By dividing into two voter groups.
The first voted for Mamdani despite his anti-Israel positions. The second group voted for Mamdani precisely because of his anti-Israel positions, with which they identify. They feel Israel doesn’t represent them and their values, given repeated statements and Knesset member support mainly for Orthodox Judaism.
*NOTE: This author joins countless other Israel supporters in ignoring Israel’s embrace of the abhorrent policies of apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. When pro-Israel billionaires and leaders pour huge sums into “hasbara” and assemble media conglomerates to control the narrative, and affix the “antisemite” label to advocates of Palestinian rights, they are misdirecting their effort. When Israel dismantles its apartheid and adopts equal rights for all, when it ends its 77-year war against Palestinian existence – then it might expect to enjoy support again.
Zionism, the ideology on which Israel is built, is a supremacist ideology – the ideology under which 750,000 Palestinian people were dispossessed and exiled to Gaza and other locations. By its very nature, Zionism requires an exclusively Jewish population – or a Jewish overclass – and has necessitated Israel’s policies of occupation, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and more. Antizionism opposes this supremacism and demands equality. It is not directed toward Jews, but toward the ideology. Many Jews are antizionists.

OTHER NEWS:
They Tried to Smear Zohran Mamdani as an Antisemite. Voters Saw Right Through It.
Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, who leads the prominent Central Synagogue in Manhattan, said, “Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has contributed to a mainstreaming of some of the most abhorrent antisemitism,” Buchdahl said.
Mamdani’s alleged antisemitism? Pointing out, in 2023, the established fact that the Israeli military has trained hundreds of members of the New York Police Department, and that the NYPD and Israeli forces have intelligence sharing agreements. The rabbi also decried Mamdani’s “false claims of genocide” in Gaza — claims shared by leading genocide scholars, and every major international human rights organization.
That is, Buchdahl didn’t — and couldn’t — cite any actual antisemitism on the newly elected mayor’s part. Her problem, as was the case for the array of establishment Jewish voices who spoke out against Mamdani, was his criticism of Israel (continue reading here).

Mamdani and J Street Slam ADL’s ‘Mamdani Antisemitism Monitor’ Tracking Incoming NYC Mayor
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) announced an “Antisemitism Tip Line” on Wednesday, following Zohran Mamdani’s election as New York City mayor: “This Mamdani Monitor will provide transparency around City Hall decisions affecting Jewish New Yorkers, including education policy, budget priorities, and security measures.
Mamdani responded, “I think anyone is free to catalog the actions of our administration. I have some doubts about Jonathan’s ability to do so honestly, given that he previously said I had not visited any synagogues, only to have to correct himself.”
The liberal pro-Israel J Street stated, “The fearmongering we have seen from some Jewish institutions and leaders surrounding Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is harmful, overblown, and risks needlessly deepening divisions in the city and in our community. Our community’s responsibility now is to engage constructively with the mayor-elect, not to sow panic or demonize him.”
The statement added, “We urge organizations such as the ADL to lead with consistency and integrity, not selective outrage. It is alarming to see the ADL announce a new ‘tracker’ of antisemitism aimed at Mamdani while refusing to apply equivalent scrutiny to Donald Trump, despite his long track record of using antisemitism and bigotry for political gain,” the statement said.
