NEWS & HEADLINES FROM GAZA:
For some basic info on the Palestine-Israel conflict, go here. For more critical context, skim this, this, and this. To read about a remarkable but underreported, 20-month-long peaceful protest in Gaza against Israel, go here.
Israeli forces killed two Palestinians and injured several others on Tuesday in a series of airstrikes, drone attacks and artillery bombardments across the Gaza Strip.
How Israel is using militias and concrete blocks to seize what remains of Gaza: Israeli forces have pushed past the “Yellow Line” that divides the Gaza Strip in half and now control 65% of the territory. Residents call the new border Gaza’s “apartheid wall.”
Hamas rejects Board of Peace report blaming it for stalling of Gaza truce: Hamas has rejected a report by Trump’s Board of Peace, which blamed Hamas for its failure to disarm, calling it the “principal obstacle” to full implementation of a ceasefire brokered last October. Hamas said that the report contained “misrepresentations” and adopted the Israeli narrative furthermore, the report ignored Israel’s failure to uphold its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, as well as its continued closure of border crossings and prevention of the entry of reconstruction materials.

FLOTILLA NEWS & HEADLINES:
Go here to read about the most recent flotilla; go here to read about the history of flotillas to Gaza.
Israeli forces intercept the remaining activist flotilla vessels headed for Gaza: 428 detained activists from over 40 nations reportedly remain “unaccounted for” as they have had neither contact with lawyers nor access to consular help, and their families haven’t been informed of their whereabouts. Israel’s Foreign Ministry Office called the flotilla “a PR stunt at the service of Hamas”; Israel has also called the flotilla “a provocation for the sake of provocation” with no real intent to deliver aid to Gaza.
The boats carry a symbolic amount of aid. A daily average of 112 trucks entered in March, far below the 600 Israel committed to in the ceasefire agreement.
‘Don’t Be Bothered by Their Screams’ Ben-Gvir Posts Video of Police Dragging Detained Gaza Flotilla Activists: The video shows the activists kneeling on a metal floor in an unshaded area while Israel’s anthem is playing and armed Border Police officers watch. Later in the video, a woman is heard pleading and screaming, as Ben-Gvir says, ‘Don’t be bothered by their screams.’
US imposes sanctions on Gaza flotilla organizers, says flotilla undermines Trump’s “successful progress* toward lasting peace”: “The pro-terror flotilla attempting to reach Gaza is a ludicrous attempt to undermine President Trump’s successful progress toward lasting peace in the region,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. Rights advocates say Trump administration is using sanctions and ‘terrorism label’ to silence Palestinian activism. (Read the press release from the US Department of the Treasury here.)
*NOTE: Trump has accomplished exactly nothing for Gaza with his so-called “Board of Peace.” Israel has not kept its promises to increase food, medical, and sheltering aid, and has not withdrawn – it has actually taken even more of Gaza’s land. The Board of Peace is stacked with wealthy and powerful Israel supporters, dictators, and authoritarians, as well as Israeli prime minister and war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu and two other Israelis – both real estate tycoons – but no Palestinians. In fact, the organization’s charter makes no reference to Gaza. The lower-tier technocratic committee, made up of Palestinians, will do the grunt work in Gaza – if and when Israel allows the group to enter the Strip.

Every day, Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem endure dozens of incidents like the ones below, at the hands of Israeli soldiers and/or settlers. For background on the West Bank, read this and this. For information on the significance of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, read this and this.)
ISRAELI MEDIA: The Numbers Behind the ‘Sacred Work’ of Cleansing West Bank Palestinians for Future Jewish Villas: Since January 2023, entire families have packed up their belongings and left the areas where they grew up, places in which they invested their labor and their hopes. Some 2,000 people, including 900 children, have been forced to leave in just the past four and a half months. 45 communities have been dismantled entirely, including nine so far this year.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:
Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.
‘Unprecedented act of savagery’: How Israel’s new law* places Palestinians on death row by default: A new Israeli military order makes execution the default sentence for Palestinians convicted in attacks that kill Israelis, deepening the dual legal system built on racial discrimination, military rule and permanent proximity to death.
*NOTE: This is just one of many examples of Israel’s apartheid framework, which extends in various forms across Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and inside Israel (where 21% of residents are Palestinian). Multiple human rights organizations have documented and reported that Israel is indeed practicing apartheid, including: Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Israeli human rights groups B’Tselem and Yesh Din , the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, the International Court of Justice, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has ordered the forced displacement of occupied Jerusalem’s Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar in response to reports that he may be targeted by an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, reportedly also a target for a potential ICC warrant, has lashed out at the court as well and vowed to continue escalating against Palestinians.
Khan al-Ahmar’s strategic location is considered critical to the territorial continuity and viability of a future Palestinian state. Khan al‑Ahmar has, over the past years, become a symbol of Palestinian resilience in the face of displacement and land confiscation, and a clear illustration of the colonial nature of Israel’s settlement enterprise.
ISRAELI MEDIA: Knesset panel fast-tracks West Bank antiquities bill seen as de facto annexation: The Knesset Education, Culture and Sports Committee is racing to advance a controversial bill seeking to establish the State of Israel’s direct responsibility for antiquities in the West Bank, which, according to many, amounts to de facto annexation.
Israeli TV leak exposes ‘secret plan’ to seize Iran’s uranium near Isfahan: A report aired by Israel’s right-wing Channel 14 has sparked outrage after appearing to reveal details of a possible Israeli-American plan to seize enriched uranium from Iran through a military operation. The details were reportedly broadcast without approval from Israel’s military censor, which later allegedly ordered the material removed from online platforms.
In first, Israel convicts Palestinian citizens of Israel for chanting slogans: A Haifa court found two men guilty of ‘indirect incitement to terrorism’ after they joined an anti-war protest. Lawyers warn it sets a dangerous precedent.

ISRAEL-US WAR/CEASEFIRE ON IRAN – NEWS & HEADLINES:
It can not be overemphasized that Israel is the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.
Israel, US early war goals sought to reinstate Iran’s Ahmadinejad as leader, NYT reports: An associate of Ahmadinejad told the NYT that the Americans viewed Mr. Ahmadinejad as someone who could lead Iran and manage “Iran’s political, social, and military situation.”
US lawmakers press CENTCOM chief on deadly Iran school strike (he refuses to comment): Rep. Adam Smith urged Adm. Brad Cooper to acknowledge US responsibility for the strike on the Iranian girls’ school, including more than 150 schoolgirls. “Can you, at this moment, acknowledge that that mistake was made, and that we were responsible for it? It’s something we didn’t want to do, and don’t want to repeat?” Smith asked. Cooper said only: “The United States does not deliberately target civilians.”
DEATH TOLL – WAR ON IRAN (tentative):
- United States: 13 (or more)
- Iran: at least 3,636 (1,701 civilians, 254 children)

- Arab states (including Palestine, excluding Lebanon), at least 154

ISRAEL’S WAR/CEASEFIRE ON LEBANON – NEWS & HEADLINES:
Israel has invaded Lebanon seven times in the last half century. Between 1978 and 2000, Israel maintained an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon — Hezbollah was formed to fight that occupation.
Although Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon in November 2024, Israel has attacked Lebanon almost every day since, committing over 10,000 air and ground violations – the most violated ceasefire deal in recorded history. (Read about UNIFIL, the UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, here.)
Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Tuesday killed at least 19 people, including four women and three children, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
Israel targets farmers with phosphorus shells in southern Lebanon: Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) said Israeli forces fired three phosphorus shells near farmers harvesting watermelons in fields near the Mansouri junction in Tyre district.
Hezbollah drones limiting 80% of Israeli army operations in Lebanon: Hezbollah drones have become a growing concern for Benjamin Netanyahu, who previously described them as a “major threat” and called on the military to find solutions. “Many military operations are not being carried out during daylight hours” due to fears of drone attacks.
Israel issued forced displacement orders to 12 towns in southern Lebanon on Tuesday.
DEATH TOLL – WAR ON LEBANON (tentative):
- At least 380 killed since “ceasefire” began on April 17, 2026 (22 children, 39 women)
- At least 3,042 people have been killed since war began on March 2, 2026

AIPAC’s super political action committee and two other groups backed by pro-Israel donors poured more than $15.8 million into the race, according to Federal Election Commission reports released through Tuesday, making the 4th Congressional District race the most expensive House primary in history, with overall spending reaching $32 million.
UAE and Israel established fund for joint defense acquisition, sources say: The emerging partnership between Israel and the UAE puts the Gulf state at odds with its neighbors.
Italian port authorities halt Israel-bound shipments of ‘military-grade steel’ from India: According to activists, the shipments amount to roughly 806 tons of military-grade steel and could be used to manufacture up to 17,458 artillery shells for the Israeli army.
With shelling and raids, Israel is killing southern Syria*’s agricultural sector: Residents describe how Israeli military raids and incursions have occurred almost daily, and how this is a disaster for the agricultural season.
*NOTE: Although Israel is not at war with Syria, the Israeli army has reportedly carried out over 1,600 violations inside Syrian territory since August 2025. Israel has demanded the demilitarization of southern Syria, allegedly to prevent any “potential threat” from post-war Syria – but has vowed to stay permanently in what seems to be an informal border expansion.
