The latest victims in Israel’s ongoing slaughter of Palestinians

Israeli violence continues to take Palestinian lives with impunity. Here are five of the most recent victims.

Israeli soldiers, police, and illegal settlers have killed 17 Palestinians since the beginning of June (no Israelis were killed during this time). Although mainstream Western media rarely mentions these deaths, IAK recognizes the significance of each victim to her or his loved ones and as part of the bigger picture of Palestinian suffering. Below are reports on the 5 most recent deaths, reposted from the International Middle East Media Center.

Israeli Soldiers Kill A Palestinian In Jenin

June 29, 2022, IMEMC

On Wednesday dawn, Israeli soldiers killed a young Palestinian man in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Dr. Wisam Baker, the director of Khalil Suleiman Hospital in Jenin, said the soldiers shot and killed Mohammad Maher Nafe’ Mer’ey, 25, from the Jenin refugee camp, during protests that took place after the army invaded Jenin.

Dr. Wisam said Mohammad was shot with several live rounds in the heart and abdomen and was then rushed to the hospital. But at the hospital, he succumbed to serious wounds, despite all efforts to revive him.

The doctor added that the Israeli soldiers also shot another Palestinian, who was rushed to the hospital and is in a stable condition.

Furthermore, the soldiers occupied rooftops of tall buildings in Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp and used them as firing posts for their sharpshooters.

Mohammad is the cousin of Bara’ Kamal Lahlouh, 23, who was one of three Palestinians shot and killed, on June 17, 2022, in a barrage of gunfire by undercover Israeli forces on a car they were traveling in.

Palestinian Woman Dies In Israeli Prison

July 2, 2022, IMEMC

On Saturday, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported that the Palestinian woman, the oldest female detainee imprisoned by Israel, died in an Israeli prison less than seven months after Israeli soldiers abducted her.

The PPS said that Sa’diyya Farajallah, 68, from Ethna town west of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, died at the ad-Damoun Israeli prison and added that the circumstances that led to her death remain unknown.

The PPS stated that Farajallah, a married mother of eight, was the oldest Palestinian female detainee in Israeli prisons and that she was abducted by the Israeli soldiers on December 18, 2021, near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, after she was injured when many illegal Israeli colonizers attacked her.

The Israeli authorities prevented her family from visiting her throughout her imprisonment; she died at the Damoun Israeli prison.

The woman had diabetes and high blood pressure and was taking medications before she was taken prisoner.

Akram Samara, a lawyer of the Palestinian Detainees Committee, said he saw her last time last Tuesday in court, adding that she was in a wheelchair, unable to speak, and looked very fragile.

Samara said the Israeli authorities refused to provide medical reports detailing her health condition and were denying her the right to medical treatment during her imprisonment.

Her brother, Taiseer Farajallah, demanded an autopsy to know the cause of death and added that the soldiers repeatedly struck and beat his sister, after they claimed she tried to stab a colonizer, near the Ibrahimi Mosque while she was on her way to visit her two married daughters, living in the Old City of Hebron.

“My sister was a woman who struggled to provide for her family despite the dire financial situation,” Taiseer stated.

Sa’diyya’s son, Mohammad, described what happened to his mother as a crime and that his family was not allowed to visit her, adding that when they saw her in court and were not allowed to talk to her, she looked very weak and extremely ill, even unable to speak.

Her death brings the number of detainees who died in Israeli prisons since 1967 to 230.

July 3, 2022, IMEMC

On Sunday, Palestinian medical sources in Jenin said a young man died of serious wounds he suffered a day earlier after Israeli soldiers shot him in Jaba’ town, southwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

The sources said the Palestinian, Kamel Abdullah Alawna, 18, was shot with two expanding bullets, one in the abdomen, causing severe damage to his liver and intestines, and one in the right elbow.

His brother Dr. Mo’taz Alawna said Kamel was instantly admitted to surgery and remained in the Intensive Care Unit until he succumbed to his wounds.

He was shot by the soldiers while walking in an area where protests had been taking place after several army jeeps invaded the town.

The soldiers fired many live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades at the protesters and surrounding areas.

Kamel was born in 2004 and was named after his brother, who was killed by the army in 2003; his father is a former political prisoner whom Israel imprisoned for several years.

He was a high school student taking final exams.
