If Americans Knew has a new Action Center devoted to advocacy for Palestinian children, and we’re looking to create a nationwide movement that you need to join!
Palestine has the distinction of being one of the most dangerous places in the world for children – thanks to the Israeli occupation and American complicity.
In the West Bank, midnight raids, tear gas, and harassment are routine. Hundreds of Palestinian kids are arrested and prosecuted every year. Since 1967, 50,000 Palestinian children have been arrested.
In Gaza, food, medicine, and electricity are in short supply, and 97% of the drinking water is contaminated. Israeli military attacks come without warning and snipers pick off peaceful demonstrators, many of them children.
Since 2000, almost 2,500 Palestinian children have been killed by Israel (this number does not include the children who have died from malnutrition, inadequate health care, and polluted water). During the same time period, 139 Israeli children were killed.
The situation is dire, and the US Congress couldn’t care less (except for a handful of representatives).
This is unacceptable, and If Americans Knew is committed to enabling change: change in understanding of the issue and change in Washington.
New resources
To that end, we’ve created a new Action Center specifically to provide resources for advocating for Palestinian children. It has materials and ideas that you can use as a beginner or a longtime advocate, for quick-and-easy actions or larger undertakings. And we’ll be adding more in the coming weeks. (We welcome your input too!)

New initiative
If you want to be involved in any way with the campaign to change minds in Congress, join with IAK. Our goal is to find local volunteers in every congressional district to be boots on the ground. You can be one of them!
Join our new Local Volunteers mailing list and be part of a nationwide team fighting for Palestinian rights. (Sign-up is on the Action Center page, or you can respond to this email – just tell us your congressional district.) There’s no obligation, no cost, no minimum (or maximum!) effort required. Just do what you can, when you can.
