Trump’s Gaza plan appears to be failing; Kushner turns to gangsters for help – Not a Ceasefire Day 34

Compilation of news reports – IAK staff

(While a “ceasefire” is ostensibly in place, Israel has continued its assault on Gaza without interruption. If Americans Knew considers the war to be ongoing, and in its 767th day.)

In the past 24 hours, at least three people were killed in Gaza by Israeli forces.

Since the “ceasefire” began on October 11, Israel has killed at least 245 and injured 623. Death toll figures are tentative.

Israel has so far violated the 11 October ceasefire deal in Gaza at least 282 times.

Israel blocks critical medical supplies to Gaza, UNICEF says

Israel is blocking 1.6 million syringes needed for a children’s vaccination campaign in Gaza, UNICEF says, along with nearly one million baby formula bottles.

On Tuesday, the UN agency for children’s relief said the blockage is preventing efforts to immunize more than 40,000 children who missed routine vaccines during the war.

The syringes have awaited customs clearance since August.

CNN reported in March that the Israeli agency that controls access to Gaza for the multi-billion-dollar aid effort has imposed arbitrary and contradictory criteria, according to more than two dozen humanitarian and government officials interviewed by CNN. Partition of Gaza a looming risk as Trump’s plan falters

A de facto partition of Gaza between an area controlled by Israel and another ruled by Hamas is increasingly likely, multiple sources said, as Trump’s plan is faltering.

The Israeli military currently controls 53% of Gaza’s territory, including much of its farmland, while nearly all Gaza’s 2 million people are crammed into tent camps and the rubble of shattered cities across the rest of Gaza, under Hamas control.

Six European officials said the reconstruction is likely to be limited to the Israel-controlled area, which could lead to years of separation.

A major push by the United States is needed to break the impasse, officials said.

Israel, US reach deal to exile 200 Hamas fighters trapped in Rafah: Report

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US envoy Jared Kushner reached an agreement to remove about 200 Hamas fighters from Rafah in southern Gaza and transfer them outside the Palestinian territories, Israeli media said Tuesday.

“A settlement was reached between Netanyahu and Kushner to deport about 200 (Palestinian) fighters trapped in the Rafah tunnels,” an unnamed official told Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, adding, “under the settlement, Israel must allow their safe transfer” out of the Palestinian territories.

The Israeli official said no country has yet agreed to receive them.

There was no immediate comment from the US, Israel, or Hamas on the report.

Palestinian boy dies month after Israeli tear gas attack during olive harvest

Aysam Jihad Labib Naser, 13, was harvesting olives with his family around 10 a.m. on October 11 in Beita, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, when Israeli soldiers heavily bombarded the area with tear gas and fired several tear gas canisters toward Aysam.

This caused him to choke severely and collapse. A nearby nurse examined Aysam and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

His death comes as this year’s olive harvest has become the most violent since UN agencies began tracking settler violence in 2013.

Israeli forces and settlers have killed 47 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank in 2025, according to documentation collected by DCIP (continue reading here).

Jenin: A City Under Systematic Erasure

For nearly ten consecutive months, the Israeli occupation army has waged an unrelenting offensive  against the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank’s transforming a once-crowded urban center into a zone of devastation and forced displacement.

The offensive, in its 295th day Tuesday, has escalated into a full-scale siege, with all four main entrances to the city sealed off by earth mounds and military roadblocks.

Drones hover overhead, broadcasting evacuation orders through loudspeakers, while armored vehicles patrol the streets, enforcing curfews and obstructing movement (continue reading here).

Tuesday: Israeli Invasions, Abductions Across West Bank

Israeli occupation forces carried out widespread invasions and abductions across the occupied West Bank earlier on Tuesday, targeting towns, refugee camps, and agricultural areas in a coordinated campaign of repression and territorial control.

At least 45 Palestinians were abducted in overnight invasions, including children and former political prisoners, as soldiers stormed homes, vandalized property, and imposed military closures.

Tuesday’s invasions form part of a sustained campaign of collective punishment and demographic engineering, deepening the fragmentation of Palestinian territory under military and colonial control (continue reading here).

NEWS & HEADLINES ABOUT ISRAEL:

(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel accurately. IAK passes along only factual reporting.)

Israel is building a ‘land grab wall*’ deep inside southern Lebanon as air strikes continue

Israeli forces have begun constructing a wall deep inside southern Lebanon, amid ongoing strikes on the south and increasing threats of a renewed offensive.

Israeli media reports confirmed the construction of the massive concrete wall two kilometers into Lebanese territory, near border towns where Israeli forces have blown up several homes. Photos of the wall, which extends beyond the UN-imposed Blue Line, have circulated online (continue reading here).

*NOTE: This wall, which Israel is using to unilaterally take over a swath of Lebanese land – under the guise of “security” – follows the pattern Israel has used against the Palestinians in the West Bank (and likely in Gaza). The “apartheid wall” has become, in the words of Israeli human rights group B’Tselem:

“a major political instrument for furthering Israeli annexationist goals. It serves for Israeli takeover of almost 10% of the West Bank… About 85% of the barrier’s meandering route winds through the West Bank. In other words, it runs through the occupied territory, and is not located along the Green Line or in Israel proper” (continue reading here).

To see how Israel is doing the same thing in Gaza, read How Israel’s ‘Yellow Line’ is redrawing Gaza and preventing displaced Palestinians returning home.

Israel used a similar strategy, but without a physical wall, in 1948: after the war, Israel refused to allow the 750,000 Palestinians who had fled to return to their homes. Read: Fact Sheet: Palestinian Refugees & The Right of Return Under International Law.

Israeli embassy writes to US senators defending detention* of Palestinian American teen

The Israeli embassy in Washington has been circulating a letter on Capitol Hill defending its nine-month detention of a 16-year-old US citizen in military prison as pressure mounts from senators and civil society groups who have called for his release.

The document, obtained by the Guardian, describes Israel’s allegations against Mohammed Ibrahim and the medical treatment he has allegedly received in prison. It does not mention his dramatic weight loss or the fact that his family has had virtually no contact with him since his arrest in February.

Ibrahim, a dual Palestinian American teenager from Florida, has been charged with two counts of throwing objects at moving vehicles (continue reading here).

*The vast majority of Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons are political prisoners; thousands are administrative detainees, being kept behind bars without charge, trial, or access to a lawyer. A growing number are children. Israeli prisons regularly use torture (and have done so for over 50 years). It is not a stretch to call them hostages.

Each year, hundreds of Palestinians (many of them minors) are imprisoned for throwing stones, which can carry a sentence of up to 20 years (for Palestinians, not Israeli Jews).

Administrative detention is intended to be used only in “exceptional” circumstances, but Israel uses it widely. (Read more here.) Approximately 1 million Palestinians have been detained since the Israeli occupation began in 1967.

US military explores Gaza-area base for international force: Report

The US military has requested cost estimates for constructing a temporary installation near Gaza capable of housing 10,000 personnel, Bloomberg News reports, citing documents it reviewed relating to the matter. Some Israeli outlets put a $500 million price tag on the project.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said, “This story is based on a single piece of paper produced by random people within the military,” she said, adding that senior officials have neither considered nor approved such plans.

An unnamed US official told Bloomberg the inquiry represents early planning for potential infrastructure supporting an international stabilization force to monitor the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire; no American personnel would be stationed at the base, the official said.

US puts Gaza militias* to the test

Jared Kushner’s recent visit to Israel has strengthened ties between the US and Palestinian militias in Gaza that oppose Hamas. In conversations and meetings between militia leaders, Kushner’s team, and US officers from the task force, proposals were raised to establish a formal mechanism for communication and cooperation.

The Americans are attempting to assess the capabilities of these militias and determine the extent of their influence and control. Those operating in areas under Israeli control function with almost no interference and have managed to maintain relative order, including organizing food distribution. Other militias remain in active conflict with Hamas terrorists**. Their message to the Americans has been clear: they need assistance in this fight.

The American goal is to explore whether these militias can be transformed into a local force that maintains order and security in their respective areas, and potentially beyond (continue reading here).

*These so-called “militias” are actually criminal gangs of Palestinians in Gaza who have actively collaborated with Israel throughout the genocide. Among other unlawful actions, they have looted aid trucks for months using weapons provided by Israel, and with IDF cooperation, then sold the products – which should have been free – at exorbitant prices to starving Gazans. Their position, essentially as traitors to the people of Gaza, should disqualify them as partners in peacemaking efforts.

**NOTE: The use of the word “terrorist” for a group that resists occupation and oppression is a political, not fact-based choice. In reality, international law supports the efforts of resistance groups against an occupying power, the UN extending that right to the point of armed resistance

On October 7th, Hamas was exercising – albeit imperfectly – its internationally recognized right to resist the oppressor and occupier of its people. Hamas fighters attacked Israel after years of oppression and many nonviolent attempts to call attention to the issue. The UN has passed hundreds of resolutions demanding justice – to no avail.

In fact, Israel has been oppressing Palestinians since its creation in 1948, and even before that.

Private documents raise concerns among U.S. officials over Israel-Hamas ceasefire

According to Politico, several U.S. officials have expressed concern that the difficulties in enforcing several key sections of could cause the agreement signed between Israel and Hamas last month to collapse.

The sections of the 20-part plan which officials list as particularly challenging to put into action are the establishment of multinational bodies like the International Stabilization Force and the so-called Board of Peace, as well as the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
