Every person in Gaza experiencing high levels of food insecurity – Not a Ceasefire Day 30

Compilation of news reports – IAK staff

(While a “ceasefire” is ostensibly in place, Israel has continued its assault on Gaza without interruption. If Americans Knew considers the war to be ongoing, and in its 763rd day.)

Ten martyrs (including one new martyr and nine recovered bodies) and six wounded individuals arrived at Gaza Strip hospitals in the past 72 hours.

Since the “ceasefire” began, Israel has killed at least 241 Palestinians, including 97 children, with approximately 609 others injured.

Israel has violated the truce agreement at least 194 times.

Charity launches new kitchen in starving northern Gaza

World Central Kitchen (WCK) has restarted food services in besieged northern Gaza and prepared more than 3,000 meals for hospitals and hungry Palestinians on its first day at its newest facility, and plans to “scale up to 40,000 meals per day in the coming weeks,” it said in a statement.

Last year, seven World Central Kitchen staff were killed in central Gaza in a “targeted attack” by Israeli forces that drew global condemnation and forced the charity to suspend operations.

‘We hate winter’: Palestinians face the rain without shelters as Israel blocks tents

Since Israel launched its two-year genocidal war on Gaza, relentless air strikes have targeted residential areas, leaving more than 83 percent of all structures and housing units damaged.

Under the ceasefire agreement with Hamas that came into effect last month, Israel was required to allow hundreds of thousands of tents and mobile shelters into Gaza – but Israeli violations of the ceasefire have meant that almost none have been allowed in, leaving hundreds of thousands dreading the onset of winter.

Amjad al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, told MEE that Israel is allowing only a small number of aid trucks to enter Gaza each day – covering less than five percent of the population’s basic needs, and described conditions in the enclave as “catastrophic”, saying that people are in urgent need of emergency shelter materials such as tents and tarpaulins, along with winter clothing, blankets and bedding (continue reading here).

At least 16,500 people in Gaza need urgent medical care: WHO

More than 16,500 Palestinians in war-battered Gaza are in urgent need of medical care, the World Health Organization chief says, pleading with the international community to immediately take them in for treatment: “We urge more countries to receive patients from Gaza as over 16,500 people still need urgent medical care that is not available in the Strip,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

He also called for all evacuation routes – particularly those from the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem – to be opened to facilitate the transfer of patients in need.

Talks ongoing to get dozens of Hamas fighters out of south Gaza

Negotiations are under way to allow about 150 Hamas fighters trapped in tunnels in southern Gaza behind Israel’s “yellow line” to hand over their weapons and walk free, a proposal from Egyptian mediators.

Securing safe passage for the Hamas soldiers in Israeli-controlled territory is a serious issue seen as a risk to the month-old Gaza truce, news reports quoted unnamed sources as saying.

Israel and Hamas have yet to publicly accept mediators’ proposals.

US President Trump said an international stabilization force will be on the ground in Gaza “very soon,” and insists, despite hundreds of ceasefire violations by Israel, that “peace in Gaza” is going well and the ceasefire is holding. The force will consist of troops from regional countries and allies.

Israeli Forces Kill Two Youths Near Jerusalem

The Palestinian Health Ministry announced the deaths of Mohammad Abdullah Taym (16 years old) and Mohammad Rashad Fadl Qasim (16 years old).

The Israeli army described the incident, “during an ambush conducted by Unit 636 in the al-Judeira area, two individuals were observed igniting and throwing Molotov cocktails toward a main road.

“The Israeli force neutralized the two individuals, and there were no injuries among our troops,” the statement said.

The army confiscated the boys’ bodies.

Israeli forces fire at anti-settlement* protest in the occupied West Bank

At least 15 Palestinians were injured on Friday when the Israeli army fired live bullets and tear gas shells at a peaceful protest in Tulkarem, northern occupied West Bank, against the construction of a new illegal settlement outpost east of the city.

Israeli troops and settlers have carried out 2,350 attacks across the occupied West Bank last month in an “ongoing cycle of terror”, according to the Palestinian Authority’s Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.

*NOTE: Israel has illegally built around 280 settlements on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are home to more than 700,000 illegal settlers. Some settler groups have a history of violence against Palestinians, often with the assistance of Israeli military forces (a phenomenon that has grown significantly worse since October 7th, 2023).

In a landmark advisory opinion on July 19, 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land “illegal” and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

NEWS & HEADLINES ABOUT ISRAEL:

(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers it accurately. We pass along only the truth.)

Israel is reportedly seeking written guarantees from the US that would allow it to continue its military operations in Gaza without facing sanctions, even if the UN Security Council passes a resolution to establish an international force in the territory, according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

CAIR-Florida Urges Immediate U.S. Intervention to Stop Blackmail of Mohamed Ibrahim by Israeli Officials and Secure His Release

The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for urgent U.S. intervention to ensure the immediate release of American child and U.S. citizen Mohammed Ibrahim, after Israeli military prosecutors reportedly threatened to keep him unjustly imprisoned for up to three more years unless Mohammed admits to a crime he did not commit and accepts two years in an Israeli military prison.

CAIR and CAIR-Florida are urging the U.S. State Department, elected officials, faith leaders, and civil society organizations to speak out and pressure Israeli authorities to secure Mohammed’s immediate and safe release (continue reading here).

Cornell Becomes Latest University to Submit to Trump’s ‘Extortion’ Over Student Protests

Cornell University became the latest school to cave to demands from the Trump administration on Friday, inking a deal that would restore $250 million in unpaid research funds stripped by the federal government as part of its crusade against higher education and efforts to punish schools that allowed students to freely express pro-Palestine views.

Following a months-long investigation by the government for allegedly violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, the Ivy League school agreed to pay a $30 million fine to the government, which claimed that Cornell had violated the law by not sufficiently cracking down on student protests against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The administration accused the school of failing “to protect Jewish students” (continue reading here).

104 House Dems urge Netanyahu to halt plans to demolish Umm Al-Kheir in West Bank

Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Jim Himes (D-Conn.) Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.) and Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) – all Jewish – led 99 other House Democratic colleagues in a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday asking the premier to halt plans to demolish the Bedouin Arab village of Umm Al-Kheir, south of Hebron.

“We are gravely concerned that any further actions by settlers, vigilantes or the government to destroy the village of Umm Al-Kheir will traumatize this peaceful community and jeopardize the prospect of long-term peace, mutual security and self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians at this critical moment,” wrote the members, who were joined largely by left-leaning and left-wing colleagues (continue reading here; find the full letter here).

US intel found Israeli military lawyers warned there was evidence of Gaza war crimes*, former US officials say

The U.S. gathered intelligence last year that Israel’s military lawyers warned there was evidence that could support war crimes charges against Israel for its military campaign in Gaza – operations reliant on American-supplied weapons, five former U.S. officials said.

The previously unreported intelligence, described by the former officials as among the most startling shared with top U.S. policymakers during the war, pointed to doubts within the Israeli military about the legality of its tactics that contrasted sharply with Israel’s public stance defending its actions.

*NOTE: According to UN report “Israel’s assault on the foundations of international law must have consequences,” Israel’s most egregious violations of international law include crimes against humanity including murder, torture, sexual violence, and repeated forced displacement amounting to forcible transfer, war crimes encompassing indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian objects, including objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population and educational institutions and cultural heritage, the use of starvation as a weapon of war, the targeting of healthcare workers and health facilities, attacks on humanitarian workers, arbitrary restrictions on access to humanitarian aid, and attacks on journalists, collective punishment, and perfidy.
