ISRAEL-US WAR ON IRAN – NEWS & HEADLINES:
Why is If Americans Knew covering the war on Iran? It can not be overemphasized that Israel has been the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran for years. This is especially true right now, under Donald Trump. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades.
The American people have made clear that they do not want to go to war with Iran, but Israel partisans and the Israel lobby use their massive political clout to bring about whatever is beneficial to Israel – including putting the US military in harm’s way. For more background on Israel’s role in American wars, watch IAK’s short film, “The Israeli Hit List.”
Iran says US-Israeli attacks ‘amount to genocide’: A spokesperson said on Wednesday, “This is not an isolated act of cruelty — it is part of a systematic and brutal pattern of illegal warfare against Iran…The term ‘war crime’ falls far short of adequately describing these atrocities.” He added, “Given the explicit rhetoric of hostility toward Iranians (as a nation) expressed by U.S./Israeli officials, these crimes amount to genocide.”

‘False, baseless’: Iran dismisses Trump’s latest ceasefire claims: Iranian officials have repeatedly refuted any claims of a US victory, asserting that they will end the war when their terms are met.
Trump admits Iran war was only at behest of ‘allies’, gives no withdrawal timeline: “We’re now totally independent of the Middle East, and yet, we are there to help,” Trump said in a scripted Wednesday evening address. “We don’t have to be there. We don’t need their oil. We don’t need anything they have. We’re there to help our allies.” The next two to three weeks will take Iran ‘back to the stone ages’, he vowed (find the full transcript of Trump’s Wednesday night speech here).
EXCERPT: “We’re fighting [Israel’s] wars. We can’t take care of daycare. You gotta let a state take care of daycare, and they should pay for it too,” said Trump. “It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things.”

More than “boots on the ground”: Pentagon wants bunkers for the Middle East: The Pentagon has solicited proposals for prefabricated bunkers to be delivered to its bases in the Middle East, hinting at preparations for a longer-term conflict.
“Casualty Cover-Up”: The Pentagon Is Hiding U.S. Losses Under Trump in the Middle East: Almost 750 troops have been wounded or killed in the Middle East since October 2023, an analysis by The Intercept has found. But the Pentagon won’t acknowledge it. CENTCOM also would not provide a count of troops who have died in the region since the start of the war. An Intercept analysis puts the number at no less than 15.
Iranian army commander threatens US soldiers: ‘Families should contact them within 24 hours’: Iran’s Army Ground Forces Commander General Ali Jahanshahi said on Wednesday, “The United States Central Command has heavily censored the figures on American soldiers killed. We recommend that within the next 24 hours, families of US military personnel deployed to the region contact their children. We will see what happens.”

More than two-thirds of US citizens are calling for a quick end to Washington’s war against Iran, even if it means ditching its stated goals, a 31 March Reuters/Ipsos poll shows.
Israel pressures Trump for ‘short, powerful’ ground operation before Iran talks: Media: In an interview with US outlet Newsmax on Monday, Netanyahu urged Trump to move beyond public opinion opposing the war: “I’m not saying politicians should ignore polls—everyone looks at them—but if that’s the only thing guiding your actions, then you’re not a leader, you’re a follower.”
Pakistan and China put forward five-point plan to ease Middle East tensions: The proposed initiative includes an immediate ceasefire, the prompt launch of peace negotiations, the protection of civilians, the safeguarding of shipping lanes, and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter.

(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.)

Multiple human rights organizations have documented and reported that Israel is indeed practicing apartheid, including: Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Israeli human rights groups B’Tselem, and Yesh Din, and more.

Possible Democratic hopefuls say Israel must pay for its own missiles: New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani voiced his agreement with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who announced on Tuesday that she would oppose all military aid to Israel. “I support what the Congresswoman said,” Mamdani said.
Ocasio-Cortez issued another statement regarding her new position, saying that Israel is “well able” to fund its Iron Dome system, which she defended in principle as “critical [in keeping] innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment.”
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) joined in on Wednesday, signalling he would not support additional funding for Israel’s Iron Dome. “Israel is a first-world country,” Khanna said, “and it can pay for the defensive systems it needs.”
