In a 4-hour raid on a Palestinian village, Israeli soldiers shot teenager Odai Salah in the head with an expanding bullet, killing him, shot several others, stormed and ransacked homes, and threatened members of the Palestinian press.
Odai’s father stated, “The whole Palestinian people is like Odai. Killings have become daily, they happen in a monstrous way. We no longer have any dreams in this country.”
Two more Palestinian young men were killed near Jenin, a a city in the occupied West Bank where Israel has staged many violent invasions in recent weeks, bringing the total killed this month to ten. An Israeli soldier also died – the first Israeli killed since May 5th. At least 83 Palestinians have been killed during that time.
Another Palestinian has been killed by Israel’s shoot-first policy – the eighth so far this month. (And an additional Palestinian died in an Israeli prison from medical negligence). Hamad Abu Jilda leaves behind a pregnant wife and a child.
As Palestinians in Jenin protested Israel’s illegal demolition of a Palestinian home, Israeli forces opened fire on the protesters, killing Mohammad Saba’na and injuring others. Saba’na, 29, was holding his smartphone and documenting the Israeli invasion when soldiers shot him in the chest and other parts of his body. This is the sixth Palestinian in a week to die at Israeli hands…
Invading Israeli soldiers shot Taher Mohammad Zakarna, 19, in the head in Qabatia town, south of Jenin in the occupied West Bank
Dirar al-Kafrini was killed when Israeli soldiers shot him with an expanding bullet, as part of a larger operation in the Jenin refugee camp.
Invading Israeli soldiers shot Samih Jamal Mahmoud Amarna, 37, and detonated a Palestinian home in the northern West Bank. Amarna is the seventh Palestinian killed by Israeli soldiers this month. (No Israelis have been killed.)
In yet another raid on the Palestinian city of Jenin, Israeli forces shot 17-year-old Amjad al-Fayed to death with eleven live rounds to his upper body…
It was an Israeli sniper that shot at us. We were not caught up in crossfire with Palestinian fighters like the Israeli army claimed… The funeral procession arrived at the small monastery in the city, and the church bells began ringing for Shireen, who is from a Christian family from Bethlehem. Around Shireen’s corpse, we all stood as Muslims and Christians, listening to the priest’s prayer in silence…
Israel can falsely claim that the bullet that killed Shirin might not have been fired by its army, but there is nothing new here. Israel’s standard procedure is to whitewash its crimes.
