Dozens of international humanitarian organizations warned Israel’s blockade of aid into Gaza is endangering the lives of doctors and aid workers, while a major news agency says it is trying to evacuate its remaining freelance journalists because the situation has become “untenable.”
The Gaza Health Ministry said that the incident marked the first time “deaths have been recorded due to suffocation and the intense stampede of citizens at aid distribution centers.”
“This was not aid distribution,” said Ahmed Abu Amra, who witnessed gas bombs being fired at aid seekers at a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation site. “It was a real massacre committed against the hungry who came hoping to get some food.”
