Israel has so far violated the 11 October ceasefire deal in Gaza at least 738 times in 61 days.

Heavy rains flood displacement camps in Gaza, sparking catastrophe warnings

Torrential rains have inundated thousands of tents sheltering displaced Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, aid officials and local authorities reported on Wednesday, Dec. 10, warning of an imminent humanitarian disaster.

The heavy downpours submerged numerous tents in makeshift camps, with water levels rising above 40 centimeters (~16 inches) in some areas.

The flooding has severely damaged the limited shelter available to hundreds of thousands of displaced families, ruining personal belongings and leaving many exposed to harsh, cold conditions.

Rising maternal malnutrition in Gaza drives up newborn mortality

The number of newborns who died at birth in Gaza has increased by 75 percent, according to new data by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef). Between July and September, an average of 47 baby deaths were recorded each month, almost double the monthly average of 27 in 2022.

Data also showed that in 2022, prior to Israel‘s genocidal war on Gaza, an average of 250 babies per month – 5 percent – were born underweight. That figure has risen sharply, to roughly 460 low birth-weight babies each month.

Children born underweight (less than 2.5 kilograms) are 20 times more likely to die than those born at a healthy weight (continue reading here).

Palestinian Detainee Dies* in Israeli Prison

The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority announced the death of detainee Abdul-Rahman Sofian Mohammad Sabatin, 21, from the town of Husan west of Bethlehem, late Tuesday night.

Sabatin had been held since June 24, 2025. On November 25, 2025, his family saw him in court, and reported no signs of serious health complications.

Two prisoners’ rights institutions stressed that Sabatin’s death adds to the record of systematic slow-kill policies pursued by Israeli authorities against prisoners (continue reading here).

*NOTE: Rights groups — including Israeli organizations — report that fatalities among Palestinian prisoners since the start of the genocide on October 7, 2023, have surpassed one hundred, though the figure is not final.

Israel approves construction of 764 new settler* homes in occupied West Bank

According to Israeli Channel 7, Israeli authorities approved the construction of 764 new settlement units in the central West Bank.

Israeli settlement construction has surged across the occupied West Bank since Benjamin Netanyahu’s current government took power at the end of 2022, with 51,370 settler homes approved across the occupied territory.

According to data from the Israeli anti-settlement group Peace Now, more than 700,000 illegal settlers live in the West Bank, including around 250,000 in East Jerusalem.

*NOTE: Israel has illegally built around 280 settlements on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are home to more than 700,000 illegal settlers. Some settler groups have a history of violence against Palestinians, often with the assistance of Israeli military forces (a phenomenon that has grown significantly worse since October 7th, 2023).

In a landmark advisory opinion on July 19, 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian land “illegal” and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

NEWS & HEADLINES ABOUT ISRAEL:

(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel accurately. IAK passes along only factual reporting.)

Israeli minister says war with Syria* is now inevitable

The Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Amichai Chikli has said that war with Syria “has become inevitable”, after videos circulated on Tuesday showing movements by Syrian security forces and armed men close to Israeli army positions in rural Quneitra in southern Syria.

(In other words, when Israeli forces violated Syria’s sovereign territory, they found Syrian forces ready to fight.)

Tel Aviv described this as a “security threat”, although the area has seen years of repeated Israeli attacks, incursions, and ongoing violations of Syrian sovereignty.

*NOTE: Israel has attacked Syria more than 600 times in the past year.

Since taking power following the overthrow of al-Assad, President Ahmed al-Sharaa has consistently stated that his government seeks no conflict with Israel and will not permit Syria to be used by foreign actors to launch attacks.
