Israel’s war in Gaza has led to a 41% fall in births in the territory and high numbers of maternal deaths, miscarriages, newborn mortality and premature births, two reports on the impact of the conflict on pregnant women, babies and maternity care reveal.

Mothers in Gaza are forced into unthinkable choices, routinely compromising their own health and survival to meet their children’s most basic needs. With maternal and newborn care dismantled by fuel shortages, blocked medical supplies, mass displacement and relentless bombardment, life in overcrowded tent encampments has become the only remaining option (continue reading here).

UN’s Albanese: Israel treats storm-hit Palestinians of Gaza as ‘expendable’

Special rapporteur says Israel’s nonresponse to the growing crisis reflects its attitude towards Palestinians: “Israel generally does not care about Palestinian lives. On the contrary, it finds them expendable and [believes they] can be destroyed,” she said. “What more do we need to see? What have we not seen yet?” (continue reading here).

Founders of deadly GHF* ‘shaping’ new US-backed administration for Gaza: Report

According to a Financial Times report, the Gaza executive committee set to be announced soon – which will operate directly under a Trump-led ‘Board of Peace’ – is being “shaped” by several people close to Israel.

This includes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief military advisor, Roman Gofman, and US-Israeli investor Michael Eisenberg, who has been advising the Israeli premier since the start of the ceasefire, as well as US-Israeli policymaker Aryeh Lightstone and Israeli cybersecurity entrepreneur Liran Tancman, who is Mossad-linked.

All four of these men were involved in the establishment of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The deadly aid scheme resulted in the killing of around 2,000 Palestinians within half a year (continue reading here).

*NOTE: The world has gotten firsthand accounts of Israel’s massacres of Gazans since the first day of  GHF’s so-called aid distribution: at least 2,615 Palestinians were killed – by IDF soldiers and GHF personnel – as they sought to secure a box of food or a bag of flour.

Globally recognized human rights organizations warned that the GHF model was deeply flawed and bound to create chaos, and called it a “dangerous, politicized sham.” Countless videos from reporters and aid-seekers, as well as whistleblower testimonies, bore witness to utter mayhem; meanwhile, GHF staged videos in which small, controlled groups of Gazans calmly collected parcels and left without incident.

News reports indicated from early on that the organization was a tool of the Israeli government, allegedly funded by the notorious Israeli Mossad.

Gaza plan phase two: US to discuss Hamas disarmament*, Israeli withdrawal

Hamas leaders and representatives of other Palestinian factions in Gaza are in the Egyptian capital Cairo for talks on the second phase of the United States-led Gaza ceasefire deal, amid a teetering ceasefire that Israel has repeatedly violated as its genocidal war continues.

The Palestinian group on Thursday welcomed the establishment of a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee that would operate under the overall supervision of a so-called “Board of Peace”, to be chaired by US President Donald Trump.

Deep uncertainty remains over the next steps involving the disarmament of Palestinian armed groups in the Strip, rebuilding and daily governance (continue reading here).

*NOTE: Critically, Hamas has made clear that it will not surrender its weapons as long as the occupation remains in place – a fact that Netanyahu and Trump seem to be ignoring.

New wall threatens thousands of Palestinian families

The Israeli military is building a 22-kilometer-long wall and a 50-meter-wide, off-limits military-only road deep inside the occupied West Bank – a project that will cut Palestinian landowners off from millions of square meters of their lands, displace Palestinian farming communities whose buildings will be demolished and further sever movement between parts of the northern occupied West Bank.

“The wall will isolate large swathes of privately owned, very fertile land. We are talking about some 190,000-200,000 dunams [190-200 square kilometers] of land that will end up on the other side of the wall,” Abdullah Abu Rahmeh, director general of the Popular Action Department at the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, told The Electronic Intifada (continue reading here).
