HAMAS WILL NEGOTIATE ONCE AID REACHES GAZA’S STARVING: Hamas said in a statement that it is ready to “immediately” engage in negotiations to end the war in Gaza “once aid reaches those who deserve it and the humanitarian crisis and famine in Gaza are ended,” adding, “Continuing negotiations in the shadow of starvation lose their substance and usefulness, especially after the criminal Zionist occupation withdrew from the negotiations last week without justification, at a time when we were on the verge of reaching an agreement.”

ISRAEL WANTS GHF TO CONTINUE, NO MATTER WHAT: Al Jazeera has stated that, according to reports, Israel insists that whatever is going to happen moving forward with a ceasefire, temporary or not, it wants those GHF sites to continue operating, because apparently they serve a purpose as far as Israel is concerned.

Israeli army withdraws 98th Division from northern Gaza as offensive nears end
The Israeli army withdrew its 98th Division from northern Gaza on Thursday, with local media suggesting the move could mark the approaching end of its ground offensive.
“Today, in accordance with operational planning and the combat timeline, the 98th Division has completed its mission in the northern Gaza Strip after intense combat and is now preparing for additional missions,” the army said on X. No replacement forces were announced.
The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth described the withdrawal as a sign that the military may soon declare the controversial ground campaign over, amid growing criticism that it failed to defeat Hamas or achieve its stated goals (continue reading here).

Netanyahu is a disgusting liar.
Children are starving to death.
The United States cannot continue to supply his racist government with hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid that is used to kill innocent people.

WEST BANK/EAST JERUSALEM, AND ISRAEL NEWS AND HEADLINES:
(For background on the West Bank, read this and this. For information on the significance of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, read this and this.)
Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem: “1,444 settler attacks this year, 38 communities displaced”
The Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) said that the number of settler attacks on Palestinians during the period from January to June of this year reached (1444) attacks, and (38) communities were completely evacuated from their homes.
The institute noted in a report issued today that the number of colonial attacks carried out by settlers has witnessed an unprecedented escalation in the West Bank.
The price paid by Palestinian citizens is not measured by the number of attacks, but rather by the daily suffering that affects all aspects of life, from the difficulty of accessing water sources and agricultural land, especially those close to settlements and outposts, to the restrictions on movement, as settlers close village entrances and roads, subjecting citizens to various forms of psychological and physical violence (continue reading here).

Trump recognizes Netanyahu is blocking ceasefire for political survival: report
Netanyahu, Witkoff, and President Trump have all blamed Hamas for the lack of a ceasefire deal, but The Atlantic reported on Thursday that Trump now believes the Israeli leader is purposely prolonging the genocidal war. “The president and some of his aides think that Israel’s military objectives in Gaza were achieved long ago, and that Netanyahu has continued Israel’s assault, which has claimed tens of thousands of civilian lives, to maintain his own political power,” the report says.
The report also stated that the White House believes Netanyahu has taken steps to interfere with a potential ceasefire deal. Despite reaching these conclusions, Trump is not considering altering his policy of full-throated support for Israel. Two US officials told The Atlantic that they “did not anticipate that Trump would hold Netanyahu accountable in any meaningful sense.”

“Christian” GHF chief attacks UN and media, ignores 1K deaths, avoids saying ‘Palestinians’
Johnnie Moore, purported Christian leader and chairman of the scandal-plagued Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) on Thursday called the United Nations a propaganda tool for Hamas at a speech in the US capital, Washington, DC. Moore also appeared to avoid saying the term “Palestinian” entirely, instead choosing to describe them as “Arabs” or “Gazans”.
He did not acknowledge the more than 1,000 deaths at the four GHF sites in the enclave, and railed against the NGOs and media outlets that he said are trying to discredit his work, which he said is built exclusively on Judeo-Christian principles.
“When establishment media and international organizations spread these false narratives about GHF, they’re not attacking us. They’re attacking the hungry children that we feed, and instead of lying, they should just help us,” Moore said.
“As a Christian*, when my Bible inspires me to go feed the hungry, it doesn’t include a footnote about cross-checking with the UN Charter,” he added.
*NOTE: Johnnie Moore’s brand of “Christianity,” Christian Zionism, is antithetical to the teachings of Jesus. Much has been written in opposition to Christian Zionism – for example, read this and this and this.

Trump’s Gaza “Food Centers” Miss the Real Problem: Israel’s Aid Blockade
President Donald Trump’s vague plan to respond to the famine in Gaza with Israeli-approved “food centers” is being panned by humanitarian groups who say it will do little or nothing to reverse widespread starvation caused by Israel’s decision to block aid.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said: “The notion that the U.S. is going to set up food distribution centers — why not let the pros do it? The World Food Programme. Mercy Corps. World Vision…The U.S.’s efforts thus far have been the pier, which was a joke, and this GHF thing, which has been a disaster. So we don’t have any credibility on this.”
Another member of the committee, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., questioned the funding of the project: “What, is Israel going to pay for them? I think as with most humanitarian crises, the people most directly involved are the people that should be involved with funding them” (continue reading here).

U.S. Security Contractors in Gaza Risk War Crimes Charges, Democrats Say
U.S. military veterans hired for a controversial food distribution operation in Gaza may be at risk of criminal charges under U.S. laws against war crimes, torture, and forced deportation, four Democrats in Congress said Thursday.
The Congress members said they were “horrified” by reporting about Safe Reach Solutions’ and UG Solutions’ “deadly” security operations on behalf of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
News reports and firsthand witnesses [like the one in the video below] indicated employees were “sent to Gaza armed for combat” and directed by Israeli officials to use lethal force.
The lawmakers said in a letter to the two firms, “We are deeply concerned that you may have failed to alert your personnel — or investors — of the immense legal risks they face for conducting what amounts to military operations on behalf of the Israeli government on land outside of the State of Israel” (continue reading here).
HOW MTG BECAME MAGA’S MORAL COMPASS ON GAZA: This week, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene became the first in her party to call the Gaza crisis a “genocide”: “It’s the most truthful and easiest thing to say that Oct. 7 in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned, but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza,” the Georgia Congresswoman said on X Monday evening (more here).
WITKOFF, HUCKABEE TO VISIT GAZA FRIDAY: Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee plan to enter Gaza on Friday to inspect aid distribution sites, as global rage mounts over the looming famine in the Gaza Strip. The visit will be Witkoff’s second to Gaza and the first visit from a US ambassador to the enclave in over two decades. It reflects mounting pressure from US allies and within his own MAGA base.
NOTE: The only times Westerners have been permitted into Gaza recently has been in tours carefully orchestrated by Israel, accompanied by Israeli military escorts, and with no access to Palestinian people. IAK will report on the outcome of this visit in tomorrow’s Daily Update.
ALL FREEDOM FLOTILLA CREW HAVE BEEN DEPORTED: Israel on Thursday deported the final two foreign activists detained from the Handala, a Freedom Flotilla Coalition boat attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, according to the legal center Adalah, concluding five days of unlawful detention under harsh conditions. Christian Smalls of the US and Hatem Aouini of Tunisia were expelled via Jordan after being held in Givon Prison, where they staged a hunger strike to protest their detention.
SLOVENIA BANS ARMS TRADE WITH ISRAEL: The government of Slovenia says it has become the first European Union country to officially prohibit the export and transit of military weapons and equipment from or through its territory to Israel, or arms imports from Israel. Prime Minister Robert Golob said Slovenia will take more measures against the Israeli government in the coming weeks, without elaborating.
