Palestinian Boys Allege Sexual Assault, Torture by Israeli Jailers

Palestinian teenagers kidnapped and imprisoned by Israeli occupation forces during the genocidal war on Gaza accused their jailers of torturing and sexually assaulting them in a report published Saturday by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“They took me from the aid distribution site and transferred me to a hospital in Rafah, where I was interrogated for an hour,” one 16-year-old boy identified by his first name Sami, who was abducted on June 29, told ABC. “They stripped me and conducted a body search. Then, they loaded me into a jeep and transported me to a prison in Israel.”

“During the interrogations, they tortured us—handcuffing us, beating us with sticks, and using electric shocks,” the teen continued. “They did countless things to break us” (continue reading here).

OVER 1K BUILDINGS DESTROYED IN GAZA CITY, BODIES BURIED IN RUBBLE: Gaza’s Civil Defense reports that amid intensified Israeli air strikes on Gaza City, more than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed in the Zeitoun and Sabra neighborhoods since August 6. Hundreds of bodies of killed Palestinians are still stuck under the rubble, while ongoing shelling and lack of access routes and resources prevent many aid operations.

GAZA SHELTER SUPPLIES MEET ONLY 4% OF NEEDS: The Government Media Office in Gaza says the territory faces a shelter deficit of more than 96 percent, leaving the southern governorates unable to accommodate the 1.3 million Palestinians who have been forcibly displaced. It said only about 10,000 tents have entered Gaza since Israel announced the entry of shelter supplies, just four percent of the 250,000 tents and caravans required. “This number reflects the extent of manipulation and procrastination in responding to urgent humanitarian needs,” the office said in a statement.

There is something worse than starvation in Gaza

NOTABLE QUOTE: “Denial is the most obscene expression of dehumanization”

Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General, on the Gaza Famine:

Famine is the last calamity hitting the people of Gaza

Hell in all shapes.

“Never Again” has deliberately become again.

This will haunt us.

Denial is the most obscene expression of dehumanization.

It’s time for the Government of Israel to stop promoting a different narrative, and to let humanitarian organizations provide assistance without restrictions and allow international journalists to report independently from Gaza.

West Bank village devastated as Israel uproots thousands of olive trees in 72 hours

The Israeli army has reportedly uprooted thousands of olive trees in the West Bank village of Al-Mughayyir in just the past three days, as part of a collective punishment* campaign against Palestinian residents of the village.

Olive farming is the backbone of Palestinian agriculture. Olive trees in the West Bank are often hundreds of years old, some even over a thousand years old, and are deeply tied to Palestinian identity, representing steadfastness and their historical connection to the land.

The Israeli army began uprooting the trees on Thursday, while also carrying out raids on homes and imposing a siege and curfew, preventing all movement into and out of the village located northeast of Ramallah. Soldiers also raided homes, looting money, jewelry, and vehicles.

The raid was apparently retaliation after 30-year-old Palestinian resident of Al-Mughayyir allegedly fired at settlers from the outpost, “without hitting any, before engaging in a physical altercation during which an Israeli man was lightly hurt.”

He was later detained by a unit of Israeli reserve soldiers comprised of local Jewish settlers.

Al-Mughayyir has long been a target of settlers and soldiers alike amid plans for ethnic cleansing and further land grabs.

*NOTE: Collective punishment is a war crime.

Compare the treatment of this entire village for the alleged actions of one resident (who only “lightly hurt” an Israeli settler) to a recent incident in which a settler murdered a Palestinian in cold blood – and was recorded doing it – and the killer has gone free. This is just one example of Israel’s apartheid policies.

The Silent Tsunami: West Bank Edges Toward a Slow-Burning Collapse

The West Bank is quietly unraveling. Beneath the surface of daily life, a slow-burning crisis is taking shape, political immobilization, economic suffocation, and deepening public disillusionment are converging into what experts warn could become an explosive breakdown.

With no political horizon in sight and trust in the Palestinian Authority eroding, the region is inching toward a tipping point.

Israeli pressure is intensifying, and the Palestinian leadership is struggling to respond. The term “silent tsunami,” coined by the head of the Palestinian Studies Forum at Tel Aviv University, captures the scale of transformation underway (continue reading here).

Netanyahu, Katz talk tough

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday night, following the Israeli retaliation on Yemen, “Anyone who attacks us—we attack them. Anyone planning to attack us—we attack them. I believe the entire region is learning the power and determination of the State of Israel.”

Defense Minister Israel Katz added, “For every missile the Houthis launch at Israel, they will pay with compound interest.”

The Israeli military stated last week that the Houthis operate “in order to harm the State of Israel and its allies.”

NOTE: The Houthis in Yemen – as well as Hezbollah  – have declared in no uncertain terms that their conflict with Israel is in support of the Palestinians, and will end when Israel ends its war on Gaza.
