New data reveals Israel’s ‘systematic destruction’ of Palestinian cultural heritage

Newly released data compiled by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, with help from other organizations including UNESCO, has revealed the extent to which culture and heritage in the Gaza Strip have been “systematically” targeted by Israel during its genocidal war.

According to the compiled data, 25 registered cultural institutions and over 80 unregistered cultural centers were destroyed; seven cultural collectives were eradicated and their members displaced; dozens of poets, artists, and musicians have lost their lives to the genocidal war that began on 7 October.

An estimated 87 libraries were also destroyed by Israel, including the Omari Mosque Library, which held centuries-old manuscripts; 146 historic homes were also destroyed, as well as 12 museums (continue reading here).

Israeli army warns Gaza city occupation may take a year, cause 100 soldier deaths

Israeli army estimates suggest that occupying Gaza City could take up to one year and result in the deaths of around 100 soldiers, Channel 13 reported.

The army warned that such an operation would put the lives of Israeli captives at risk and would not bring a decisive victory over Hamas, unless Israel occupied the entire Gaza Strip and imposed full military rule.

These assessments were presented during a lengthy cabinet meeting on Monday night, which ended with a decision to move toward occupying Gaza instead of a prisoner exchange deal, even though Mossad chief David Barnea openly backed the deal (continue reading here).

Israel holds 360 Palestinian children in prisons – 41% have not been charged – and over 11,000 total prisoners

A record 360 Palestinian children are detained in Israeli prisons as of June 30, the latest data available from the Israel Prison Service (IPS), which is the highest number since early 2016. 147 children, or 41 percent of the total, are held in administrative detention without charge or trial.

This is both the highest number and the highest proportion on record since Defense for Children International – Palestine began monitoring these numbers in 2008.

“Every month since October 2023, Israeli forces have rapidly expanded their use of administrative detention to target Palestinian children,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, accountability program director at DCIP. “These children are languishing in overcrowded Israeli prisons, fed rotten food, and beaten on a daily basis by Israeli guards, all while they are completely isolated from the outside world, including from their families and lawyers. They must all be released immediately” (continue reading here).

As of September 2025, the Israeli occupation authorities are holding 11,040 Palestinian prisoners, including 3,577 administrative detainees imprisoned without charge or trial, according to figures published Tuesday by the Israeli human rights organization HaMoked (continue reading here).

Israeli Drones Seen Above Flotilla of 50 Humanitarian Aid Ships En Route to Gaza

Yasemin Acar describes the drone that hovered over the Sumud Freedom Flotilla at midnight (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) as a form of psychological warfare targeting the crew.

The Sumud Flotilla set sail from Barcelona Spain on Tuesday, and already, on the second night of the week-long voyage, faced the buzzing of Israeli surveillance drones overhead. The flotilla is in international waters, and unannounced aerial surveillance drones are illegal under maritime law.

Activists ‘honored’ to be part of Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza

Participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international maritime initiative launched to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza and to deliver humanitarian aid, have begun gathering in Tunisia. (“Sumud” is an Arabic word meaning steadfastness.)

Vessels in the flotilla, which set sail from Spain and Italy, will meet ships joining from Tunisia in Tunisian waters before proceeding toward Gaza.

“The Global Sumud Flotilla is, in fact, a continuation of earlier attempts that began with the Mavi Marmara, followed by the Madleen and Handala ships. This time, nearly 1,000 activists from 44 countries are attempting once again to break the blockade. As the Turkish delegation, we are proud to be part of this blessed initiative,” Aycin Kantoglu, a member of the Turkish delegation, told Anadolu (continue reading here).

Buoyed by AIPAC dollars, Wesley Bell pushes AIPAC lies

For nearly two years, Israel lobby group AIPAC has championed Israel’s genocidal onslaught in Gaza.

The group heavily funded the 2024 congressional campaign of Wesley Bell in St. Louis, Missouri against Congresswoman Cori Bush who had been outspoken in her support of Palestinian rights. Approximately $9 million went from AIPAC’s super PAC – political action committee – to mailers and ads unrelated to Israel to help Bell defeat Bush.

The National Black Empowerment Action Fund, led by Darius Jones and Richard St. Paul, both of whom have worked for AIPAC, chipped in $1 million for ads and mailers to undercut Bush’s campaign. The so-called Democratic Majority for Israel, with its Gaza genocide advocate Archie Gottesman (at that time still on its board), added close to another half a million dollars (continue reading here).
