Aid being allowed into Gaza, but none distributed yet: UN

Despite Israel letting a trickle of aid into Gaza after blocking it for over two months, as yet no humanitarian aid has actually been distributed in the embattled enclave, according to the UN.

The UN said that Israel had allowed four trucks with baby food to enter the enclave, and a few dozen other trucks with flour, medicine, and nutrition supplies. However, the UN has not been able to get permission from Israel to distribute the supplies.

Of the nine trucks cleared by Israel on Monday, two reportedly contained shrouds to bury those killed in Israel’s attacks.

Ha’aretz has reported right-wing activists trying to block humanitarian aid trucks on the road leading to Gaza crossing.

Israel Continues to Destroy Water Sources: Civilians Targeted While Digging Well in North Gaza

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) condemns in the strongest terms the killing of a group of Palestinian volunteers and activists by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Sunday, 18 May 2025, in al-Saftawi area in northern Gaza Strip, while they were digging a water well.

Footages capturing the incident revealed the IOF’s horrific crime, as they directly and unjustifiably targeted civilians in blatant disregard for the principle of distinction, which ensures protection of civilians and their property (continue reading here).

“Nothing Left in Jabaliya”: Endless Catastrophes in a Besieged Refugee Camp

For the fourth time, the Israeli war machine is returning to destroy what has already been destroyed in Jabaliya refugee camp. In each, the Israeli army systematically worked to flatten Jabaliya and turn it into a barren desert.

I was a witness to all these operations. I see the bombs falling again on Jabaliya from my window, and I have survived so far.

I have starved, trembled with fear, and been displaced countless times. I have carried the bones and remains of martyrs in my hands. I am no longer living a normal life, filled with peace and comfort. I now have simple dreams of sleeping through the night and waking up to take a shower under hot water (continue reading here).

Students across the U.S. are going on hunger strike as Israeli-engineered famine takes hold in Gaza

In recent weeks, students across multiple university campuses in the United States have launched hunger strikes in solidarity with the people of Gaza enduring famine. The protesters are also calling on their school to cut ties with weapons manufacturers and other companies connected to Israel.

“If ever there was a moment that demands civil disobedience, it is the hour of genocide. We walk in the footsteps of earlier Stanford students who occupied this same plaza to end the Vietnam War and later to force partial divestment from apartheid South Africa. Now that baton passes to us. On October 20, 2023, Stanford students built the nation’s first Gaza‑solidarity encampment,” said the Stanford University’s hunger strikes in a statement published at Mondoweiss.

A number of other universities have also joined in hunger striking (continue reading here).

Former Israeli legislator: “Every child, every baby in Gaza is an enemy”

Moshe Feiglin, a former member of the Israeli Knesset, declared in an appearance on Israeli TV on Tuesday that “every child, every baby in Gaza is an enemy” of Israel.

“The enemy is not Hamas, nor is it the military wing of Hamas, as our military commander tells us, that we are forbidden to harm a Hamasnik unless he is part of the military wing,” Feiglin said, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv.

“Every child in Gaza is the enemy. We need to occupy Gaza and settle it, and not a single Gazan child will be left there. There is no other victory,” he added.

(Ha’aretz) The wave of diplomatic incidents involving Israel throughout Tuesday has been exceptional by any standard.

“The situation in Gaza is unbearable,” a foreign diplomat told Haaretz. “It’s time to stop. Images of children scrambling for a plate of rice, reports of real hunger, and the fact that Israel isn’t doing enough to facilitate humanitarian aid make it impossible for us to stand by any longer,” he added.

Since Monday, crisis has followed crisis: the leaders of France, the U.K., and Canada announced they may consider sanctions against Israel; 25 Western countries issued a joint statement expressing concern over Gaza; the U.K. government suspended talks on a free trade agreement with Israel; British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced sanctions on Israeli settlers and summoned Israeli Ambassador Tzipi Hotovely for a formal reprimand.

In addition, Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, and the Dutch foreign minister all made moves to distance their countries from Israel.

One Israeli expert said, “This is a very clear message to Israel: we’ve had enough of a senseless war. You’re increasingly seen as a country whose values no longer align with those of the European Union” (continue reading here).

The UK hits peak feebleness on Israel–Gaza

Behind a weak joint statement with France and Canada lies a long pattern of political avoidance, legal hedging, and moral evasion.

On May 19, the British and Canadian prime ministers and French president issued a joint statement against Israel’s actions in Gaza. Beyond the grand gestures, the statement was weakly worded and will have no impact.

It is consistent with the British government’s policy of going soft on Israel since 2023 and shows the weakness of parliamentary accountability in Britain (continue reading here).

Resolution calling for ‘urgent delivery’ of Gaza aid co-sponsored by nearly all Senate Democrats

A Senate resolution calling for the “urgent delivery” of humanitarian aid to Gaza has received almost unanimous support from Democrats.

The resolution calls on the U.S. government to use “all available diplomatic tools” to release the hostages and end the blockade of food and aid to Palestinian civilians as well as the overall conflict in Gaza (continue reading here).
