2 million Gazans struggle to survive in a 3.5 sq. mi. cage – Not a Ceasefire Day 43

Compilation of news reports – IAK staff

(While a “ceasefire” is ostensibly in place, Israel has continued its assault on Gaza without interruption. If Americans Knew considers the war to be ongoing, and in its 776th day.)

Since the “ceasefire” began on October 11, Israel has killed at least 318 Palestinians. Among them are at least 67 children. Death toll figures are tentative.

Israel has so far violated the 11 October ceasefire deal in Gaza at least 393 times.

No surprise here: Israel has allowed just 20% of aid promised in ceasefire agreement

Palestinian relief agencies say a total of 5,037 aid trucks were delivered inside Gaza in the first 42 days of the ceasefire, an average of 117 per day. According to the agreement, 600 trucks were supposed to arrive per day, for a total of 25,200.

According to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, the shortage is due to Israel continuing to impose severe restrictions on goods and limiting access to land crossings.

Winter in Gaza: A New War Devours the Tents of the Displaced

On the shores of Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, Palestinians are entering yet another harsh chapter in their ongoing tragedy. With the first heavy rains of winter, the worn-out tents that had sheltered displaced families since the beginning of the war turned into shallow lakes, submerging the few belongings they still possessed.

The sight of flooded camps sinking into the sand was sadly predictable. Still, it laid bare the sheer magnitude of the humanitarian collapse that hundreds of thousands have endured for more than two years.

Amir Abu Shamala, a father of five, recalls the first moments of the storm that swept through his tent. “It was a harsh and unexpected winter wave. We were completely flooded,” he said. “Our mattresses and belongings got soaked. My children caught colds and suffered stomach aches from the extreme cold.”

His voice carries both helplessness and anger as he continues: “If this is just the first storm, what will happen in the coming days? We’re living in damp, freezing air, and we don’t have enough blankets. I don’t know how I’ll protect my children” (continue reading here).

Trapped by yellow: the movable line that confines 2 million Gazans in a 3.5 sq. mi. cage

Israel has placed tall, yellow-painted concrete blocks to mark the yellow line, though their placement is uneven, liable to change and inconsistent.

The division of Gaza is intended to be temporary, to hold only until the next stage of the agreement, when Israeli forces are supposed to withdraw further and a new international governing body has been formed. Yet, according to some reports, the US and Israel are already discussing a plan to formalize this division as part of post-genocide arrangements.

Under this proposal, suggested by US president Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and US vice president JD Vance, the area under Israeli military control would become a secured and rebuilt zone, concentrating reconstruction, international investment, infrastructure and jobs there.

The remainder, under Hamas control, would stay isolated and be denied reconstruction until Hamas is disarmed (continue reading here).

(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. Israeli Army ex-spox says Israel lost social media battle, calls for propaganda overhaul

Former Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said Israel has “lost the war on social media,” where global public opinion is formed.

Hagari urged the creation of a powerful new propaganda apparatus modeled on the capabilities and structure of Unit 8200, Israel’s elite cyber intelligence division, capable of monitoring anti-Israel content across platforms, in real time and in multiple languages, supplying rapid-response messaging and data to government and media outlets.

His plan also calls for the systematic creation of fake online identities, automated bot networks, and the use of unofficial bloggers—“preferably mostly young women”—to shape global perceptions (continue reading here).

IDF Soldiers Seize Cattle From Palestinian Family, Give Them to Israeli Settlers

Israeli soldiers last month seized cattle from a Palestinian family’s cowshed in the West Bank and handed them to Israeli settlers, in what a rights group described as an illegal and violent act and what settlers called an act of justice.

On October 10, around 10 Israel Defense Forces soldiers entered the cowshed of a Palestinian family in Sanur, near the city of Jenin, to seize a herd of cows. The soldiers presented no official document justifying the raid.

Shortly after the incident, settlers claimed the cows had originally belonged to an Israeli farm in the West Bank and had been stolen by Palestinians, lauding the military for returning them (continue reading here).

Who is Ready to Die for Trump’s Gaza Plan? So Far, Nobody

Hamas and other factions in Gaza have issued a joint statement that unequivocally rejects Trump’s plan and the Security Council resolution, saying it “will turn into a type of imposed guardianship or administration – reproducing a reality that restricts the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to managing their own affairs.”

As for the foreign military force, the Hamas statement says, “Assigning the international force with tasks and roles inside the Gaza Strip, including disarming the resistance, strips it of its neutrality, and turns it into a party to the conflict in favor of the occupation.”

The joint statement reserves its strongest condemnation for the Arab rulers who support Trump’s plan, calling their support “a form of deep international partnership in the war of extermination waged by the occupation against our people” (continue reading here).
