WAR ON IRAN NEWS & HEADLINES:
Why is If Americans Knew covering the war on Iran? It can not be overemphasized that Israel has been the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran for years. This is especially true right now, under Donald Trump. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades.
The American people have made clear that they do not want to go to war with Iran, but Israel partisans and the Israel lobby use their massive political clout to bring about whatever is beneficial to Israel – including putting the US military in harm’s way. For more background on Israel’s role in American wars, watch IAK’s short film, “The Israeli Hit List.”
Death toll (all numbers are tentative):
- Seven US troops have been killed since the war on Iran began, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).
- In Israel, 13 people have been killed and 1,929 injured, the majority with minor injuries.
- In Iran, 1,348 people have reportedly been killed since the conflict began, the head of Iran’s National Emergency Organization reported.
- In Lebanon, at least 486 people have been killed (at least 83 of them children).
- In other Arab states, at least 19 people have been killed.

U.S./TRUMP ADMINISTRATION:
U.S. Military Refuses to Endorse Trump Claim That Iran Bombed Girls’ School: Trump claimed that Iran, not the U.S., struck an elementary school in the southern Iranian town of Minab. Defense officials, however, pushed back on his claims. Even his own Pentagon chief, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, refused to back him up.
The Pentagon burned through $5.6 billion worth of munitions during the first two days of its military assault on Iran, according to three U.S. officials, a figure that underscores the deepening alarm among some on Capitol Hill over the speed at which U.S. forces have eaten into the scarce supply of America’s most advanced weaponry.
Trump says war with Iran is finished, Israel says it’s not: On Monday, Trump told CBS News the war was nearly over: “I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.” Later, a senior Israeli official criticized Trump’s statement, saying, “Nothing has been completed yet. Our initial assessment was that the battle would take about two weeks.”

Elsewhere, Trump said the US-Israeli campaign is “very far ahead of schedule” and that he thinks the war is “very complete, pretty much.”
US campaign against Iran ‘just the beginning’: Defense secretary: Pete Hegseth said Iran’s ability to project power in the region is “diminishing and will be increasingly diminished…this is only just the beginning.” He continued, “the president’s been right to say there will be casualties… There will be more casualties,” adding that such losses “stiffen our spine and our resolve to say this is a fight we will finish.”
Pete Hegseth: Israeli attacks on Iran fuel depots ‘not our strikes, not our objective’: US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said Israel’s strikes on oil facilities across Iran were “not our objective,” adding, “Israel’s been a really strong partner in this effort…where they have had different objectives, they’ve pursued them. Ultimately we stayed focused on ours.”

Tehran warns US forces launching attacks from ‘civilian areas’ in Gulf nations: “Missiles are being launched at Iran from residential areas in the territory of neighboring countries, and US fighters are using the airspace of neighboring states to attack Iran, all putting regional security at risk,” wrote Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman.

ISRAEL:
Israel’s goal in Iran is not just regime change, but complete collapse: For Israel, a failed Iranian state fractured by civil war is preferable to any other outcome. They don’t want to just change the regime in Iran, they want to collapse the state itself.
Israeli army admits difficulty intercepting Hezbollah drones: Military sources describe the success rate of interception operations as “very low”.

ISRAEL NEWS & HEADLINES:
(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.)
Ha’aretz: Ben-Gvir’s Gung-ho Gun Distribution Campaign Is an Admission of Failure
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced Monday that all Jerusalem residents will be eligible for a permit to possess a weapon. This is just because they live in Jerusalem. Ben-Gvir made sure to note that only residents of the city’s Jewish neighborhoods will be entitled to defend themselves. This is happening against the backdrop of people’s fears and a continued crime rampage on our streets.
