The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that January 2023 has been the bloodiest since 2015 in the occupied West Bank. Israeli forces have killed 35 Palestinians, including 8 children and an elderly woman. A lone Palestinian carried out an attack against Israelis on Friday, killing 7. The incident took place in a settlement that was built on illegally appropriated Palestinian land. The shooter was killed, and his family was evicted from their home in preparation for its demolition – a violation of international law.

Israel’s “shoot first” policy leads to 2 more Palestinian deaths

Mohammad Ali, age 16, was fatally shot as he ran away from Israeli soldiers; Aref Lahlouh, age 20, was fatally shot after he allegedly tried to stab an Israeli soldier – the soldier was uninjured, but Lahlouh was shot and denied medical attention. These are the 18th and 19th Palestinian deaths at the hands of Israel in the first 25 days of 2023.
