AIPAC, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, and its affiliates are reportedly spending $100 million in the next congressional election cycle. The objective: to help oust progressives who have voiced support for Palestinians. The Israel lobby is signaling to many that it cares more about supporting Israel’s right-wing government than democracy in the US.
The Times all but ignored Palestinian civilians killed by Israel’s latest assault on Gaza and dismissed an essential factor in Israel’s calculus — pressure on Netanyahu from the fascistic members of his own coalition… PBS was almost as deferential. Bennett left the large number of Palestinian dead to the last line of his report, and didn’t say that almost all have been civilians… The Times and PBS too are sensitive to the Israel lobby in the U.S.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee claimed victory in a 9-year-old legal standoff with critics of U.S. policy toward Israel. The Supreme Court ruling made it unlikely that the pro-Israel lobby would have to disclose information about its membership and expenditures… An attorney for AIPAC said the high court “did exactly what we asked.” Stephen Breyer wrote the opinion (RBG concurred)…
The Israel lobby took aim at Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN-4) and others, calling them “anti-Semitic” and “more sinister than ISIS.” McCollum hit back.
The Israel lobby has created an atmosphere in which journalists shy away from honest reporting on the Israel/Palestine issue. They are so fearful of being labeled anti-Semitic, they “daren’t even ask the [necessary] questions.”

In a rush vote before summer recess, the House of Representatives passed H.Res.246, which claims that the global boycott movement against Israel undermines the possibility for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The majority of Americans oppose such legislation. The Israel lobby was elated. A few courageous Congress members voted against it…
