UN: One woman killed every hour in Gaza by Israeli strikes

Israel’s military offensive on Gaza is resulting in the death of one woman every hour, UN Women has estimated.

The UN agency that advances women’s rights reported that more than 28,000 women and girls have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the war. Among the victims are thousands of mothers, leaving behind children, families, and devastated communities.

The agency stated that conditions in Gaza have worsened significantly since the collapse of the ceasefire in March.

No humanitarian aid distributed in Gaza as it is stuck at Israeli-controlled Kareem Shalom crossing: UN

While the Israeli army claimed that it allowed 93 UN trucks loaded with flour, baby food, medical equipment, and medicine to enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing, the UN did not confirm delivery of humanitarian aid into the territory.

A spokesman from Gaza’s government media office said, “The trucks are still waiting at the border and have not been delivered to any humanitarian agency.”

Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters that as of noon Wednesday, local time, none of the humanitarian supplies that crossed into the enclave was able to leave the loading area because “Israeli authorities had only allowed our teams to go through one area that was highly congested, that we felt was insecure and where we felt looting was highly likely to take place, given the prolonged deprivation in Gaza since the blockade by the Israeli authorities for over 11 weeks.”

Israeli protesters block aid to Gaza, call trucks ‘humanitarian ammunition’

Israeli demonstrators on Wednesday escalated efforts to choke off the already restricted aid supply into Gaza, as the territory remains under total siege by Israel.

Protesters shut down the Karem Abu Salem crossing, the only functional entry point for humanitarian aid to demand a complete stop to relief shipments into the devastated enclave (continue reading here).

Pope Leo XIV urges Israel to permit humanitarian aid into Gaza

Pope Leo XIV appealed on Wednesday for Israel to open Gaza’s borders to humanitarian aid, describing the situation in the Palestinian territory as “deeply worrying and heartbreaking.”

During his weekly general audience at St Peter’s Square, the pope emphasized the urgent need to stop hostilities, warning that the gravest suffering falls on children, the elderly and the sick.

“I renew my plea … to allow for the entry of fair humanitarian help and to bring to an end the hostilities,” he said, calling for an immediate halt to the violence that continues to devastate the enclave.

Israel’s approval of minimal aid serving as ‘smokescreen’: MSF

The few aid trucks let into Gaza are nowhere near sufficient to meet Gaza’s vast needs and instead serve as a “a smokescreen” for Israel to “pretend the siege is over”, according to medical charity Doctors Without Borders, known by its French initials MSF.

“The Israeli authorities’ decision to allow a ridiculously inadequate amount of aid into Gaza after months of an air-tight siege signals their intention to avoid the accusation of starving people in Gaza, while in fact keeping them barely surviving,” said Pascale Coissard, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Khan Younis.

Netanyahu sets displacement of Palestinians from Gaza as ‘condition’ to end genocide

Israeli Prime Minister and internationally wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu announced on 21 May that implementing a US plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza is a “clear condition” for lifting the siege of the strip.

“I am prepared to end the war in Gaza, under clear conditions that will ensure the safety of Israel – all the hostages come home, Hamas lays down its arms, steps down from power, its leadership is exiled from the Strip … Gaza is totally disarmed, and we carry out the Trump plan. A plan that is so correct and so revolutionary,” Netanyahu said during a televised speech on Wednesday night (continue reading here).

“If there is an opportunity for a temporary pause in fighting to return more hostages—I emphasize, a temporary pause—we are open to that,” he said.

Israeli troops fire ‘warning shots’ at 35 diplomats visiting occupied West Bank

Israeli forces opened fire to intimidate a foreign diplomatic delegation upon its arrival at an entrance to the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian official told Anadolu on Wednesday.

The Israeli military, in a breach of diplomatic norms, opened fire as the delegation of 35 ambassadors, consuls, and diplomats approached the camp, which has been under siege since Jan. 21.

The Israeli army confirmed that its forces fired warning shots at the delegation, claiming that it had deviated from a pre-approved route in an active combat zone (continue reading here).

Microsoft Bans the Word “Palestine” in Internal Emails

Microsoft has quietly implemented a policy blocking employee emails containing the words “Palestine,” “Gaza,” or “genocide” on its internal Exchange servers, according to No Azure for Apartheid, a group of pro-Palestine Microsoft employees.

The automated filter, which silently prevents such emails from reaching recipients was first detected on Wednesday—just after Microsoft’s Build developer conference faced repeated disruptions by the activist group.
