GAZA NEWS & HEADLINES:

OVER 5,700 CHILDREN HOSPITALIZED IN JUNE FOR MALNUTRITION: “Child malnutrition in Gaza is rising fast,” UNICEF said in a statement on Sunday. According to the organization, at least 5,870 children were hospitalized for urgent treatment last month, including more than 1,000 cases of severe malnutrition, marking “an increase for the fourth month in a row.” February saw 2,068 Gazan children admitted for urgent treatment in February, March saw 3,259, in April there were 3,444, and in May, 5,514. “Children’s bodies are wasting away. This is not just a nutrition crisis. It’s a child survival emergency.”
TENS OF THOUSANDS WITHOUT ACCESS TO WATER: “We wait at the water plant for at least four hours because production is so slow. Whatever we get, we hand out at displacement camps. As you know, they’re overwhelmed,” one resident said. “People line up for hours from dawn, but many leave empty-handed.”

GAZA MUNICIPALITIES HALT ESSENTIAL SERVICES AMID SEVERE FUEL SHORTAGE: In a joint statement, the municipalities of central Gaza and the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah announced the cessation of all essential services due to “the complete interruption of fuel” needed to run equipment. The services included “water well operations, sanitation, waste collection, rubble removal, and opening of roads by heavy equipment.” They added, “The (Israeli) occupation’s intransigence in preventing the entry of fuel, despite all appeals, caused complete paralysis of municipal facilities.”

The ‘humanitarian city’ in Gaza would cost Israel $4 billion
Senior Israeli officials estimate that constructing a proposed “humanitarian city” in the Rafah area would cost between $2.7 billion and $4 billion – “most likely closer to the upper end.”
They added that, if the plan proceeds, Israel would initially bear nearly the entire cost, though Israel hopes to be reimbursed by Gulf states.
According to the proposal, the “city”—essentially a vast encampment of large tents—is intended to house up to 500,000 people. Israeli planners reportedly do not intend to allow those relocated* there to return to northern Gaza.
The plan has drawn sharp criticism from within the Israeli defense establishment and humanitarian organizations. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir argued that resources allocated to preparing the area are detracting from the army’s operational capabilities in the ongoing fight against Hamas and efforts to rescue hostages.
*FACT: Forced population transfer is a crime against humanity, and a form of ethnic cleansing.

“GAZA SHOULD REMAIN IN RUINS FOR DECADES”: Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said the Gaza Strip should remain in a state of devastation without reconstruction for decades, media reports said Saturday. Speaking to Israel’s Channel 14 television, Cohen said Israel has no intention of assisting in rebuilding Gaza’s destroyed infrastructure. “Gaza should remain in ruins for decades without reconstruction,” he was quoted.

NETANYAHU PROMISES TO RENEW WAR, SIEGE AFTER 60-DAY TRUCE: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly promised Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich that Israel will resume its war on Gaza following the proposed 60-day ceasefire with Hamas. “After the pause, we will transfer the population in the Strip southward and impose a siege [on northern Gaza],” Netanyahu reportedly told Smotrich. Netanyahu is working to keep his coalition together by placating far-right ministers Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, who strongly oppose a ceasefire deal.
