No one is safe: Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon, Syria – Not a Ceasefire Day 50

Among those killed in Gaza on Friday were 2 children in Khan Younis.

Since the “ceasefire” began on October 11, Israel has killed at least 354 Palestinians. Among them are at least 67 children. Death toll figures are tentative.

Israel has so far violated the 11 October ceasefire deal in Gaza at least 497 times.

The genocide in Gaza is far from over

The October 10 ceasefire seems to be designed mostly to move forward with the business deals of the mega rich in the Middle East, and the fire has never ceased: the Israeli government has continued its assault, killing and injuring hundreds of Palestinians since 10 October, destroying thousands of homes and buildings, and blocking the entry of sufficient aid.

The war in Gaza has not ended, because it was never a war in Gaza but a “Gaza Nakba,” as Israeli cabinet member and minister Avi Dichter said in November 2023 and as Israel’s former military intelligence chief Aharon Haliva confirmed in summer 2025 when he said, coldly, that “the fact that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary and required for future generations. … It doesn’t matter now if they are children. … They need a Nakba every now and then to feel the price” (continue reading here).

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) describes its actions as “enforcement of the ceasefire agreement” against Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild its military capabilities and rearm in southern Lebanon. Israel maintains its right to self-defense against what it considers immediate threats and has kept troops in five strategic posts just inside Lebanese territory.

The IDF has publicly stated it has killed more than 370 terror operatives (mostly from Hezbollah, but also Hamas and other factions) as part of around 1,200 “targeted operations” within Lebanon since the truce began

In essence, while a formal ceasefire agreement is in place, the situation is characterized by ongoing, low-intensity conflict and targeted military operations by Israel aimed at preventing Hezbollah’s recovery, which falls outside the common understanding of a complete cessation of fire.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation officially closed up shop this week, just six months after it launched. The news came as something of a relief to the organization’s myriad critics, who argued that its privatized approach to aid distribution had contributed to the deaths of some 2,000 Palestinians.
