Compilation of news reports – IAK staff

Israeli attacks killed at least 30 Palestinians and wounded many others late on Monday and in the early hours of Tuesday, despite reports that ceasefire talks were gaining “momentum”.

Israeli forces wiped out two entire families of 25 people after bombing a house sheltering them in the Beit Hanoun area, north of the Gaza Strip.

A prominent young football player for Gaza’s Al-Hilal club, Mohammed Khalifa, was also killed in an overnight Israeli bombing on the Al-Nuseirat camp, local media reported.

Israeli forces strip and line up prisoners outside school in northern Gaza.

Israel is continuing to round up residents of northern Gaza as its ethnic cleansing of Beit Lahia continues. Footage filmed from a distance shows a long line of men, stripped to their underwear close to the Awani Al-Harthani UN school, which is likely where they were sheltering before their detention by occupation forces.

West Bank: Israeli Drone Strike Kills Two Palestinians in Tubas

Israeli forces executed two Palestinian young men, on Monday, after an armed drone fired a missile at them in the city of Tubas, in the northeastern part of the West Bank.

Media sources said that an armed drone fired a missile at the young men, Khalil Majdi Hikmat Al-Masry, 26, and Adi Radwan Mustafa Daraghmeh, 32, killing them, and added that soldiers confiscated the bodies.

Sources added that occupation forces prevented ambulance crews from reaching the young men who were critically injured as a result of the Israeli drone strike which targeted the citizens in the Al-Safah area, in the northern part of the of city.

Undercover Israeli agents (“Musta’ribeen”) infiltrated Tubas city, on Monday morning, before military reinforcements arrived, while Palestinian resistance fighter exchanged fire with the invading army.

The WAFA News Agency reported that occupation forces opened direct live fire at the Palestine TV media crew while attempting to cover the military incursion into the city of Tubas.

WAFA added that soldiers targeted the Palestine TV media crew’s vehicle, striking it with several bullets, and smashing its windows; no injuries were reported among the journalists.

Since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 810 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 169 children, and injured 6,450.

Israel unleashes hell across Syria with over 250 airstrikes, breaches 1974 buffer zone agreement

Israeli jets have launched well over 250 airstrikes across dozens of locations in the north, east, west, and south of Syria as of 10 December, targeting all of the country’s air defense systems, military bases, and overground military assets.

Israeli media described the blitzkrieg as the “most intense” bombing of Syria since the October 1973 War.

“In more than 250 raids, the air force destroyed tanks, planes, helicopters, ships, air defense systems, missiles, military factories, and security facilities … If this operation succeeds, the new rebel regime will have to start from scratch…to build its military capabilities as a new state,” the Israeli broadcaster said in its report broadcast on Monday night.

In a statement early Monday, the army said that paratroopers’ forces, joined by other troops, were deployed in key positions in the buffer zone and were conducting what it called defense activities “to prevent any threat.”

The UN warned on Monday that Israeli military activity along the Golan Heights buffer zone in Syria “would constitute a violation” of a 1974 pact on disengagement between Israel and Syria.

Told of the Israeli plans, UN peacekeepers “informed the Israeli counterparts that these actions would constitute a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told a news conference.

“The Israelis also told our UNDOF colleagues that it reserved the right to take any action against any threat against the state of Israel,” he said.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Netanyahu said the occupied Golan Heights would remain with Israel “for eternity”.

NOTE: During the 1967 Arab–Israeli War, Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria. In 1981, the Israeli government effectively annexed the territory in a move that was not internationally recognized. Since 1967, the United Nations has recognized the Golan Heights as Syrian territory under an illegal Israeli military occupation.

STATISTICS OCTOBER 7, 2023 – DECEMBER 9, 2024:

Palestinian death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 9, 2024: at least 45,596* – 44,786 in Gaza; in the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and/or settlers have killed at least 810 Palestinians (~169 of them children).

Thousands of those killed in Gaza have yet to be identified, and an estimated 11,000 more are still buried under rubble.

According to a report in the Lancet, by multiplying the reported deaths by five, it is possible to reach a conservative estimate of total deaths (including indirect causes like starvation and lack of medicine). Using the latest figure from AFP (44,786), it is reasonable to estimate at least 223,930 total deaths in Gaza since October 7th, 2023.

According to a recent report by the UN Human Rights Office of identified fatalities in Gaza, about 44% were children. It is reasonable to estimate that 19,706 of known direct deaths and 98,529 of the total deaths are children.

[*The Ministry’s figures have been contested by the Israeli authorities, although they have been accepted as accurate by Israeli intelligence services, the UN, and WHO. These data are supported by independent analyses, comparing changes in the number of deaths of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff with those reported by the Ministry, which found claims of data fabrication implausible.]

Since October 7th, 2023:

  • At least 49 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons (at least 30 from Gaza).
  • At least 43 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition (at least 37 of them children)**.
  • About 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are currently displaced.
  • About 345,000 Gazans are currently experiencing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.

Palestinian injuries from October 7, 2023 – December 9, 2024: at least 112,584 (including at least 106,188 in Gaza and 6,450 in the West Bank, including 830 children). [It remains unknown how many Americans are among the casualties in Gaza.]

Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 9, 2024: ~1,584 (~1,139 on October 7, 2023, of which ~32 were Americans, and ~36 were children); 406*** military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza (updated: Nov 29); 39 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel) and~10,000 injured.

The death toll in Lebanon since October 8, 2023 is at least 4,047, of which 3,961 were killed in the final months before the ceasefire; most of the 16,638 injuries also occurred toward the end of the war.

NOTE: It is unknown at this time how many of the deaths and injuries of Israelis on October 7 were caused by Israeli soldiers.

*Previously, IAK did not include 471 Gazans killed in the Al Ahli hospital blast since the source of the projectile was being disputed. However, given that much evidence points to Israel as the culprit, Israel had previously bombed the hospital and has attacked many others, Israel is prohibiting outside experts from investigating the scene, and since the UN and other agencies are including the deaths from the attack in their cumulative totals, if Americans knew is now also doing so.

**Euro-Med Monitor reports that Gaza’s elderly are dying at an alarmingly high rate. The majority die at home and are buried either close to their residences or in makeshift graves dispersed across the Strip. There are currently more than 140 such cemeteries. Additionally, according to Euromed, thousands have died from starvation, malnourishment, and inadequate medical care; these are considered indirect victims as they were not registered in hospitals.

***The figure does not include the reportedly 56 Israeli soldiers – nearly 16% of the total Israeli military deaths – killed due to friendly fire in Gaza and other military-related accidents.

† For most of the conflict, women and children accounted for about 70% of deaths in Gaza, with children making up a little over 40% of those killed, according to official statistics.
