Israel destroying Islamic antiquities beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque: PA

The Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem Governorate reports that leaked videos have revealed unauthorized excavation and demolition operations being carried out by Israeli authorities under the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, calling the effort a “crime and a blatant violation of international laws and agreements protecting artifacts”.

“These operations deliberately target Islamic antiquities dating back to the Umayyad period [661-750 AD], which stand as living witnesses and irrefutable evidence of Muslims’ rightful claim to the site,” it said in a statement.

It said Israel is destroying the Islamic archaeological landmarks with the aim of removing the historical identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque in favor of the future construction of a Jewish temple at the site, adding that the excavations are conducted away from any international oversight.

Report: Internal IDF Document Concludes Months-long Gaza Offensive Failed

An internal Israel Defense Forces document concludes that the military’s recent months-long offensive in Gaza has failed, Channel 12 News reported on Sunday.

The document states that Israel made “every possible mistake,” waging a war “contrary to its own doctrine of warfare.” It adds that Hamas had “every condition to survive and win,” and that several of the war’s key objectives were not met: Hamas has not been defeated, and the hostages have not been returned, either through military action or a negotiated deal.

The document also asserts that Israel inadvertently provided resources to Hamas, depleted its own forces and lost international support.
