At least 43 people have been killed in various Israeli attacks Monday, medical sources say, including at least 20 aid seekers.
The latest casualty figures bring the number of people killed in the territory since the start of Israel’s 20-month war more than 56,000.
At least 516 Palestinian aid-seekers in Gaza have been killed since March 18, when the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began “aid distribution.” [More on GHF below.]
In addition, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian child in the West Bank on Monday evening, after invading the town of Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank. Ammar Moataz Hamayel, age 13, succumbed to his critical wounds after being shot by Israeli soldiers.

GAZA NEWS SNAPSHOTS:
ISRAEL WITHHOLDS HUMANITARIAN AID: The UN on Monday reported that Israeli authorities denied half of the coordinated aid movement requests in the Gaza Strip over the weekend, severely hampering fuel and water delivery and body retrieval efforts: “On Saturday and Sunday, we and our partners attempted to coordinate 16 humanitarian movements, but half of them were denied outright, hindering the trucking of water and fuel, the provisions of nutrition services and the retrieval of bodies,” UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a news conference.
DEATH EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME: “The Israeli occupation forces kill an average of one person every 15 minutes, a child every 20 minutes and a woman every 40 minutes,” Director of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr Mineer al Borsh, has said. This is beside the deaths that result from malnutrition and dehydration.
ORGS CALL ON EU TO BREAK TIES WITH ISRAEL: 114 international civil society organizations, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, called on the European Union to suspend its Association Agreement with Israel, citing its genocide against Palestinians and other violations. The organizations emphasized that a fair review of the Association Agreement must conclude that Israel has “seriously violated” the human rights clause.
SMOTRICH ON IRAN “CEASEFIRE”: Bezalel Smotrich, Israeli finance minister praised Israel’s gains against Iran and signaled a shift in focus: “Now with all our might to Gaza, to complete the job.”
REGIONAL CONFLICT BEGAN WITH GAZA: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has expressed concern over the escalating conflict in the Middle East, urging Netanyahu to call an immediate truce: “It all began with the bombing of Palestinian children: The genocide of the people of Gaza,” he wrote on X. “We’re now close to a world war. Where does the solution begin? Netanyahu must stop bombing Palestine, call a truce, and stop putting all of humanity at risk.”

Rights groups warn Gaza Humanitarian Foundation it may be liable for international law violations
Fifteen international human rights organizations have called on the Israel- and US-backed Gaza food delivery group, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), and other private groups running humanitarian aid delivery in Gaza to cease their operations or face legal consequences.
In a letter sent on Monday to GHF and the affiliated Safe Reach Solutions and UG Solutions, the rights advocates warned that private contractors operating in Gaza in collaboration with the Israeli government risk “aiding and abetting or otherwise being complicit in crimes under international law, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide”. They also noted that the contractors may be liable under US law and in other jurisdictions.
The letter marks the latest warning against GHF, which has been mired in controversy since replacing most UN-run relief operations in Gaza. Major aid groups have boycotted it and accused it of violating the principles of neutrality and independence that are bedrocks of humanitarian work (continue reading here).
A UN human rights spokesperson said, “Israel’s militarized humanitarian assistance mechanism” gives Gazans an “inhumane choice” between starving to death or risking being killed while trying to access food. Since the Israeli-approved Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began operating on May 27, Israeli forces have killed over 500 Palestinians attempting to access aid.

Gaza tribes call for activating revolutionary courts to confront criminals and gangs
HOLD GANGS ACCOUNTABLE: The National Gathering of Palestinian Tribes, Clans and Families in Gaza on Monday called for the immediate activation of revolutionary courts to try anyone found guilty of forming criminal gangs, facilitating looting, or committing acts of murder and intimidation against citizens.
The statement, received by the Palestinian Information Centre, came in response to the growing spread of organized crime, killings, looting, and the emergence of opportunistic traders accused of starving the people, manipulating cash flow, and fueling usury, extortion, and exploitation.
The Gathering urged action against corrupt merchants and speculators who deliberately create cash crises, monopolize goods, and raise prices at the expense of ordinary citizens.
It also called for opening files on organized usury and pursuing those who take advantage of people’s hardships, placing unjust financial burdens on them in ways that contradict national, religious, and social values (continue reading here).

CASUALTIES IN IRAN: A spokesperson for Iran’s health ministry said that at least 13 children have been killed since Israel’s attacks began on June 13, with the youngest being “just two months old”. He added that 44 women have also been killed in the Israeli attacks, including two who were pregnant. Elsewhere, he said that more than 400 people had been killed since the start of the conflict, with at least 3,056 others wounded, the majority being civilians.
ALTERNATIVE CASUALTY NUMBERS: The Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRAI), which is very critical of Iran’s government, said that as of Sunday night, Israeli strikes on Iran since June 13 have killed at least 950 people, including 380 civilians, 253 military personnel, and 317 that have yet to be classified. The group reported 3,450 injuries.
ISRAELI CASUALTIES: Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.
MARCO RUBIO SAYS NUCLEAR WEAPONIZATION IN IRAN IS “IRRELEVANT”: Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Sunday that whether Iran has decided to build a nuclear weapon is “irrelevant,” as he was pressed on the lack of evidence that Tehran has taken steps to weaponize its nuclear program. Rubio made the comment in an interview with CBS News when asked about the fact that US intelligence has no evidence that Iran was seeking a bomb before Israel launched its war on the country. “That’s irrelevant. I think that question being asked in the media – that’s an irrelevant question. They have everything they need to build a weapon,” Rubio said.
TRUMP DECLARES CEASEFIRE: US President Donald Trump announced Monday that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire amid the rising conflict in the Middle East: “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!” Trump later said he expects the ceasefire to go on “forever.”
WARRING PARTIES HAVE NO COMMENT: Iranian and Israeli officials have so far declined to comment on a ceasefire agreement announced by US President Donald Trump, as reports emerge that Qatar played a key mediating role in the deal. Iranian Foreign Ministry officials told Anadolu that they are “monitoring the developments” and will announce “the result” later, without confirming or denying the ceasefire.
IRAN SAYS NO CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says there is no agreement on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations as of now (9 pm EST, 1 am GMT). “However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time [00:30 GMT], we have no intention to continue our response afterwards,” he wrote on X.
NETANYAHU “HIJACKED US FOREIGN POLICY: Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York said on Monday in a post on X that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “an internationally wanted war criminal, has hijacked US foreign policy, dragging the United States into yet another costly war. America has, once more, recklessly chosen to sacrifice its own security merely to safeguard Netanyahu.”
IRAN MAY END COOPERATION WITH IAEA: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced on 23 June that the legislature is considering suspending Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The move is in response to the UN nuclear watchdog’s “unprofessional” and politicized conduct. “Iran has no plans for non-peaceful activities,” Qalibaf said, citing a religious decree banning nuclear weapons.

BREAKING: Trump says Israel and Iran both broke ceasefire deal
Two loud blasts were heard in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian media outlets Mizan and Shargh have reported, just hours after a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was declared.
Referring to the ceasefire he declared earlier, Trump said: “I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. They didn’t have to unload.” He added: “Israel, as soon as we made a deal, they came out and dropped the biggest load of bombs we’ve ever seen… I’m not happy with Israel.”
This occurred within hours after Trump posted on Truth Social, saying: “The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it!” His remarks come despite Israel not formally agreeing to any truce.

Iran responds to US attack
Iran attacked the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday in retaliation for U.S. strikes on three critical nuclear sites. Al Udeid is home to the largest American installation in the Middle East. There were no casualties, as the base had been evacuated.
Iran said the strikes in Qatar matched the number of bombs dropped by the United States on its nuclear sites over the weekend, signaling its likely desire to save face at home and deescalate abroad.
In response to the Iranian retaliatory attack, Doha issued a statement of condemnation and called it “a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, airspace, and international law.”
The US president dismissed the Iranian missile launch at Al Udeid Air Base as weak, suggesting that Washington will not respond to it: “I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done,” Trump said in a social media post.
Senior US officials had suggested that the Iranian attack on Qatar was designed to avoid a further escalation that could lead to an all-out war which could imperil the Iranian regime.
Trump said 13 of the 14 missiles fired by Iran had been shot down and that one was allowed to hit its target because it was “headed in a non-threatening direction”.
U.S. troops in the Middle East have come under attack close to 400 times, at a minimum, since October 2023 in response to the U.S.-supported Israeli war on Gaza.
Trump claims ceasefire agreement has been reached – parties are silent
Neither side has officially agreed in public to any ceasefire as of this writing; Israel is still striking targets in Iran.
“We haven’t received any official reaction from Tehran regarding the latest statement that came out from the US President Donald Trump,” Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi said from Tehran, adding that previous statements by Iran’s senior leaders signaled that an “imposed peace” would not be accepted.
Israel threatens to assassinate Khamenei if he does not agree to a ceasefire on its terms
Israeli security officials claimed Monday that Iran supreme leader, Ali Khamenei is the obstacle to settlements with the United States and Israel and threatened that Khamenei himself could become a “target” if he does not agree to the ceasefire proposed by the US, Israeli Walla news agency reported.
The officials also claimed that Tel Aviv intends to end the war on Iran within a few days, after striking all planned targets.
The Israeli military sources said the goal was to send a threatening message to Khamenei, stating that if he does not agree to stop firing rockets at Israel, the Israeli military will escalate the airstrikes and undermine the regime with the aim of toppling it. They also claimed that Monday’s airstrikes are merely a prelude to future airstrikes, threatening Khamenei with a “great danger” (continue reading here).
Nukes or be bombed: How US and Israeli strikes on Iran legitimized nuclear weapons
The message of Trump’s attack on Iran, and Israel’s recent attacks, was clear: disarmament does not protect you, compliance is not enough.
This logic undermines decades of diplomatic effort. It creates a world where restraint is punished, and power once again becomes the only guarantee of sovereignty.
Iran’s nuclear program has long existed under scrutiny. But what made these strikes different was their psychological impact. They exposed the limits of legal and moral arguments against nuclear arms. Iran’s leaders, who had once proudly cited religious and diplomatic justifications for restraint, now face a stark reality: none of that stopped the bombs.
What does this teach other countries? That not having a bomb makes you more likely to be attacked. That treaties, religious principles, and inspections offer no real protection when a hegemon decides it’s time to strike.
Israel has never acknowledged its nuclear arsenal, but it is widely believed to possess over 90 nuclear weapons, including submarine-launched capabilities. Meanwhile, the United States maintains one of the world’s largest nuclear arsenals—3,700 warheads as of January 2025, with 1,770 actively deployed across land, air, and sea platforms.
Yet the US continues to frame its Middle East policy as one of containing proliferation, even as it shields Israel from scrutiny and excludes its arsenal from all regional non-proliferation discussions.
The logic is harsh, but persuasive. When a non-nuclear state is bombed by nuclear ones, what incentive remains for restraint? For many nations, the answer is shifting from faith in treaties to faith in deterrence.

Israel bans entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque until further notice
The Israeli occupation police closed on Sunday morning Al-Aqsa Mosque again and banned Muslim worshippers from entry “until further notice”.
On Saturday evening, Israeli occupation police raided all Al-Aqsa prayer halls, the Civil Status Office responsible for guards, and the fire department in the Dome of the Rock courtyard, searching them and destroying their contents.
The Israeli occupation police threw copies of the Quran on the ground during their raid on the Al-Aqsa prayer halls, under the pretext of searching the Quran storage rooms.
Four Al-Aqsa Mosque guards were arrested and banned from entering the mosque for a week, subject to renewal.

According to Palestinian authorities, during the ceasefire Jan. 19 – March 18 2025, Israeli attacks killed at least 170 Gazans, and Israel committed at least 962 ceasefire violations.
Since the Israeli army resumed its assaults on Gaza on March 18, it has killed at least 5,759 people. 23 Israeli soldiers (most recent June 18) have been killed during the same time period.
Thousands of those killed in Gaza have yet to be identified, and an estimated 14,000 more are still buried under rubble.
Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – June 23, 2025: ~1,613 – including ~1,139 on October 7, 2023 (~36 children), 428 military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza, 46 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel.
By one count, Israeli attacks have killed approximately 221 Palestinian journalists and media workers; Palestinians have killed 4 Israeli journalists (other groups have tallied between 185 and 283 Palestinian journalists killed – depending on the criteria used).
NOTE: It is unknown at this time how many of the deaths and injuries of Israelis on October 7 were caused by Israeli soldiers.
