The bodies of 38 Palestinians were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 204 people were injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Among the dead were journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda, director of the Barq Gaza news agency, along with a number of his family members, bringing the number of Palestinian media workers killed in Gaza since October 7th, 2023 to about 220.

Also among the dead Sunday was 4-year-old Mohammad Mustafa Yassin, who succumbed to prolonged malnutrition. He was the 58th Palestinian to die of hunger since the siege began. An additional 242 people – mostly children and the elderly – have also died due to lack of access to food and medicine during this period.

Israel also killed two Red Cross workers: “They were directly targeted in their little leisure time. They worked 16 hours a day and didn’t hesitate to serve people, and everybody knew they worked for the Red Cross,” said Ali Abu Hashem, a friend of one of the victims.

The Israeli army controls over 77% of the Gaza Strip, local authorities said on Sunday.

UN-funded bakeries in Gaza halt again after only 3 days of operation

Bakeries in southern Gaza supported by the UN World Food Program (WFP) ceased operations Sunday, just three days after resuming limited production due to a critical shortage of flour, according to a local bakery owner.

These bakeries reopened on Thursday following a nearly two-month closure to provide bread to residents of southern Gaza.

UN World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain warned on Sunday that half a million people in Gaza are “extremely food insecure” and at risk of famine, urging the international community to step up efforts to deliver humanitarian aid on a large scale.

Explosive-laden ‘killer’ robots devastate Gaza neighborhoods: report

Israel’s military has intensified its use of explosive-laden robots in northern Gaza, causing widespread destruction, fear and civilian deaths, according to a report on Sunday by The New Arab’s Arabic-language sister outlet, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

The devices, often modified M113 armored vehicles carrying around five tonnes of explosives, have been deployed particularly in the towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia. Over the course of one week, five were detonated in Beit Lahia alone.

Unlike conventional strikes, these robots are remotely operated and can remain stationary for hours or days in front of homes, hospitals or residential blocks, creating prolonged periods of dread. Witnesses told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the explosions often result in devastation greater than typical airstrikes, destroying entire buildings and sending debris flying hundreds of meters (continue reading here).

BREAKING: Chief of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation resigns

The executive director of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has resigned, dealing a blow to a plan backed by the US and Israel to bring in aid to the Palestinian enclave.

“It is clear that it is not possible to implement this plan while also strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, which I will not abandon,” Jake Wood said in a statement announcing his resignation, effective immediately.

“I urge Israel to significantly expand the provision of aid into Gaza through all mechanisms,” he added.

The United States and Israel have touted GHF as the key to resolving the aid crisis in the Gaza Strip, but the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations have refused to work with the group, saying its plans will only worsen displacement in the Strip.

Aid NGOs distance themselves from Gaza Humanitarian Foundation after leaked letter

The newly organized group Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is facing greater and greater scrutiny after a letter from GHF’s executive director Jake Wood to COGAT, the Israeli military unit overseeing aid logistics in Gaza. Read about it here.

A number of NGO’s have called GHF a “dangerous, politicized sham.”

Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque ahead of ‘Jerusalem flag’ march

Israeli settlers entered Al-Buraq Square, part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, on Sunday evening, waving Israeli flags ahead of Monday’s controversial Flag March.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces set up iron barricades around Damascus Gate, sealing off the entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City in preparation for the march, which is expected to pass through Palestinian-majority areas including Bab al-Amud and Al-Wad Street.

The governorate warned of a dangerous escalation, accusing Israeli authorities of using the event to assert sovereignty over the city and reinforce occupation policies in violation of international law.

Siege Politics: Netanyahu’s Crisis-Driven Grip on Power

By now, it should surprise no one that Benjamin Netanyahu prefers the echo chamber of his own making to the international chorus demanding accountability. The Israeli prime minister, clinging to office as tenaciously as he clings to delusion, has managed to place himself among the most cynically manipulative leaders of our time, a man who governs not by vision, but by vindictiveness.

Once vaunted as a statesman in the mold of Churchill, Netanyahu now more closely resembles a bunker-dwelling autocrat, lashing out at allies and adversaries alike as his credibility collapses under the weight of his own contradictions. His latest tirade, this time aimed at French President Emmanuel Macron, is emblematic of a broader pattern: weaponizing moral outrage to deflect from moral bankruptcy (continue reading here).

US rights group says American bombs killed Red Cross workers in Gaza

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on US President Donald Trump to act over Israel’s latest attack on humanitarian workers in Gaza.

“The war criminals of the Israeli occupation forces just murdered two Red Cross workers with American bombs paid for with American taxpayer dollars,” CAIR said in a post on X.

“How many more until you stop Netanyahu, President [Trump]?”

Peru opens criminal probe into Israeli soldier accused of ‘methodical destruction’ in Gaza

Authorities in Peru have opened a criminal investigation against an Israeli soldier accused of committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip during 2023–2024, according to the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF).

The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by prominent human rights lawyer Julio César Arbizu González. The complaint alleges that the individual, whose name has not been released, served as a combat engineering soldier and took part in the “methodical and systematic destruction of civilian neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip.”

Footage shared on social media showed the soldier celebrating while detonating a civilian building.

NOTE: The Hind Rajab Foundation is a branch of the March 30 Movement  mainly dedicated to the quest for justice in response to the crimes against humanity, war crimes and human rights violations perpetrated by the Israeli state against Palestinians. Established during the ongoing Gaza genocide, our foundation honors the memory of Hind Rajab and all those who have perished or suffered under the Israeli genocidal campaign.

Gaza “a Gaping Wound on Humanity:” Spain Convenes Int’l Conference to call for Arms Embargo on Israel

The Spanish wire service EFE reports that delegations from 20 countries met Sunday in Madrid in a push to pressure Israel to halt its total war on Gaza and to establish a Palestinian state. Convened by Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, the conference sought to move to concrete actions.

Addressing the attendees at the conference on Sunday, Madrid’s foreign minister said, “The sole interest that all of us gathered here today have is to stop this unjust, cruel, and inhumane Israeli war in Gaza, break the blockade of humanitarian aid, and move definitively toward a two-state solution.”

Albares said, “Gaza is a gaping wound in humanity… There are no words to describe what is happening in Gaza—but just because there are no words doesn’t mean we will remain silent.”
