(While a “ceasefire” is ostensibly in place, Israel has continued its assault on Gaza without interruption. If Americans Knew considers the war to be ongoing, and in its 772nd day.)
Since the “ceasefire” began on October 11, Israel has killed at least 266 and injured 635. Death toll figures are tentative.
Israel has so far violated the 11 October ceasefire deal in Gaza at least 282 times.

Gaza death toll rises again
The Israeli military said on Monday that two men were shot dead for allegedly attempting to cross the “yellow line” that separates areas under army control from those where Palestinians are permitted to move under the ceasefire deal.
Israeli forces routinely target Palestinians who approach, even without crossing, the “yellow line” in areas where movement is permitted.

Israel tries Al-Aqsa imam Ekrima Sabri over alleged ‘incitement’
The charges, filed in August 2024, relate to two condolence speeches the Palestinian imam delivered in 2022, as well as his mourning of former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh following his assassination in 2024.
Sabri’s defense team says the case forms part of a broader pattern of political, religious, and ideological persecution carried out by Israeli authorities against him in recent years.
Khaled Zabarka, head of Sabri’s legal team, told Middle East Eye that the case represents “the embodiment of the racist persecution” targeting the imam (continue reading here).

NEWS & HEADLINES ABOUT ISRAEL:
(Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel accurately. IAK passes along only factual reporting.)
Death Sentence for Palestinians in Custody
The latest report from Physicians For Human Rights – Israel reveals that over the past two years, up to August 2025, at least 94 Palestinians have died in Israeli detention facilities. Yet, the report stresses that this unprecedented figure likely represents only a portion of the full death toll, and points to a deliberate Israeli policy of killing Palestinians in custody due to systemic torture and denial of medical care.
At least 46 Palestinians died in Israel Prison Service (IPS) facilities, and 52 more died in military custody. The data makes clear that deaths have occurred across all detention facilities, not as isolated incidents but as part of a broader policy implemented consistently in both IPS and military facilities over the past two years (continue reading here).

UN Security Council adopts resolution establishing Gaza Board of Peace, stabilization force
The UN Security Council approved US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza on Monday, which backs the creation of an international stabilization force and also supports a possible “pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood” if certain targets are met.
The resolution, which passed by a vote of 13-0 with abstentions by China and Russia, will place Donald Trump in supreme control of Gaza, and see his “board of peace” oversee multinational peacekeeping troops, a committee of Palestinian technocrats and a local police force, for a period of two years.
What about statehood?
According to the resolution, a Board of Peace (BoP) will serve as a transitional administration in Gaza, “until such time as the Palestinian Authority (PA) has satisfactorily completed its reform program, as outlined in various proposals, including President Trump’s peace plan in 2020 and the Saudi-French Proposal, and can securely and effectively take back control of Gaza.
“After the PA reform program is faithfully carried out and Gaza redevelopment has advanced, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous coexistence.”
Is the resolution a useful tool?
Critics argue the US draft seeks to use the UN’s authority to normalize Israel’s genocide and impose another foreign regime on Palestinians. The plan is also criticized for operating outside recognized international legal frameworks, establishing a parallel order based on security control and external authority.
On Sunday, a group of Palestinian organizations issued a statement rejecting US proposals to place Gaza under an externally imposed transitional administration, warning that such a move amounts to “a new colonialism”.
The National Commission for Palestinian Popular Action (NCPPA) said any attempt to install a governing body “outside the will of the Palestinian people” violates their right to self-determination and repackages old forms of domination “under updated labels”.
