As usual, Gaza “safe zones” are not safe
Israeli forces continued their violent assault on all parts of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, with the main targets being the tents of displaced Palestinian families.
Israeli aircraft bombed a group of children around a swing set and a tent housing displaced persons in the Al-Rimal neighborhood in central Gaza City; bombs also hit the al-Mawasi ‘safe zone’ – bombed for the sixth day in a row, as well as Khan Younis and Gaza City.
The Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, issued the latest forced evacuation order for civilians living in nine areas in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Adraee said the army was expanding its operation in deep Khan Younis.
The latest orders put most of the city under evacuation threats, except some areas of Al-Mawasi. The so-called Israeli safe zones, including al-Mawasi, are constantly attacked despite the army forcing Palestinians to move to those areas.

Ha’aretz Editorial: Israel Isn’t Creating a ‘Humanitarian City’ in Gaza. It’s Creating Transfer Camps
The Chosen People, the only democratic country in the Middle East by way of the world’s most moral army, is now planning a “humanitarian city” in the Gaza Strip. It makes no difference what Orwellian cellophane they are wrapping it in. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz are openly going ahead with plans to place Gazans in camps in preparation to transfer them out of the enclave.
The fact that Katz unveiled his “humanitarian city” plan for Rafah for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians locked down and under surveillance, with no option of leaving, as a humanitarian solution, is nothing more than a chilling distortion of language. Netanyahu is promoting this twisted plan in Washington, where he explained while insulting the intelligence of the entire world that “it’s called free choice. If people want to stay, they can stay; but if they want to leave, they should be able to leave.” The prime minister added, without a shred of shame, that Gaza “shouldn’t be a prison. It should be an open place.”
Although this sounds like a parody of the idea of reconstruction, it’s not theoretical. Diplomatic sources say the move’s goal is to concentrate most of Gaza’s population in a closed city, provide them with humanitarian aid and “encourage” them to “voluntarily” immigrate. All of this is being coordinated with U.S. officials. Netanyahu even boasted that Israel and the U.S. are “getting close to finding several countries” to take the Gazans (continue reading here).
SUFFOCATING CONDITIONS: Statement from Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor: After 21 months of continuous Israeli assault, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are confined to less than 15 percent of the enclave. Approximately 2.3 million people are crammed into suffocating conditions, each with less space than that allocated to detainees in Guantanamo Bay. This follows Israel’s conversion of approximately 85 per cent of the enclave into restricted zones through evacuation orders or unlawful military control (more here).

EVERYONE WANTS A SOLUTION (BUT NOT EVERYONE IS AT THE TABLE): US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu met in Washington on Monday evening and again on Tuesday. Trump told reporters, “We’ve got to get that solved. It’s a tragedy, and [Netanyahu] wants to get it solved, and I want to get it solved, and I think the other side wants to.” NOTE: “The other side” is the indigenous Palestinians, who are conspicuously absent from the talks in Washington, and whose input Trump and Netanyahu are clearly not seeking.
‘Any future Palestinian state a platform to destroy Israel’: Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on 8 July that any future Palestinian state would serve as a “platform to destroy Israel,” reiterating that “a sovereign power, like overall security, will always remain in our hands.”
“I think the Palestinians should have all the powers to govern themselves, but none of the powers to threaten us,” he said during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. Netanyahu also accused Palestinians of carrying out atrocities he likened to those of “the Nazis, the Holocaust.”
“We will work out a peace with our Palestinian neighbors, those who don’t want to destroy us*, and we will work out a peace in which our security, the sovereign power of security, always remains in our hands,” Netanyahu said, adding, “Now people will say, ‘It’s not a complete state…’ We don’t care. We vowed never again. Never again is now. It’s not going to happen again” (continue reading here).
*NOTE: In reality, Hamas has clearly and openly stated that its enemy is not the Jewish people, but the supremacist ideology of Zionism – the ideology under which Israel dispossessed 750,000 Palestinian people and exiled them to Gaza and other locations. International law supports the efforts of resistance groups against an occupying power, the UN extending that right to the point of armed resistance.

The details of some projects, listed only under code names, remain undisclosed (continue reading here).
Netanyahu vows to combat what he calls ‘vilification against Israel’ online
Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he’s vowed to combat an orchestrated social media campaign of “vilification and demonization” that he says is responsible for a drop in support for Israel among US voters, especially Democrats.
“I think there’s been a concerted effort to spread vilification and demonization against Israel on social media,” the Israeli prime minister told journalists on Capitol Hill after being asked to respond to opinion polls showing a move away from the historic trend of strong backing for Israel.
“It’s directed, it’s funded. It is malignant. We intend to fight it, because nothing defeats lies like the truth, and we shall spread the truth for everyone to see once people are exposed to the facts, we win hands down. That’s what we intend to do in the coming months and years.”
Netanyahu’s comments came during a visit to Congress, where he met the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson (continue reading here).
NOTE: Israel has been fighting a war against the truth for decades, especially since October 7th. What Netanyahu calls a “concerted effort to spread vilification and demonization against Israel” is simply the truth (and lies) about Israel’s genocide finally beginning to see the light of day.

NOTABLE QUOTE:
From the Council on American-Islamic Relations:
In a sane world, the Israeli government’s slaughter of nearly 80 helpless Palestinians in a single day using American weapons would be major news and members of Congress would treat Benjamin Netanyahu like Hannibal Lecter. Instead, Israel’s daily killing machine is largely ignored while Netanyahu, a wanted war criminal, walks freely on Capitol Hill.
The Israeli government is trying to slaughter as many Palestinians as it can as ceasefire discussions progress and then place those remaining in modern-day concentration camps for reeducation and deportation. The Trump administration must stop enabling this madness.

STATISTICS OCTOBER 7, 2023 – JULY 8, 2025:
- At least 58,688 Palestinians killed, 146,639 injured – including:
- at least 57,680 killed in Gaza (~16,500 children)
- at least 1,006 killed in the West Bank (~202 children)
- at least 137,409 injured in Gaza
- at least 9,230 injured in the West Bank
According to Palestinian authorities, during the ceasefire Jan. 19 – March 18 2025, Israeli attacks killed at least 170 Gazans, and Israel committed at least 962 ceasefire violations.
Since the Israeli army resumed its assaults on Gaza on March 18, it has killed at least 7,118 people. 45 Israeli soldiers (most recent July 8) have been killed during the same time period.
At least 773 Palestinians have been killed while trying to access aid parcels from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which started operating on May 26, 2025.
Thousands of those killed in Gaza have yet to be identified, and an estimated 14,000 more are still buried under rubble.
Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – July 8, 2025: ~1,627 – including ~1,139 on October 7, 2023 (~36 children), 444 military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza, 46 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel. (72 soldiers have reportedly died due to “operational incidents.”)
By one count, Israeli attacks have killed approximately 223 Palestinian journalists and media workers; Palestinians have killed 4 Israeli journalists (other groups have tallied between 186 and 291 Palestinian journalists killed – depending on the criteria used).
