Gaza endures more rain, strong winds, and cold without proper shelter*
A polar low-pressure system accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds swept across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, adding to the suffering of Palestinians living in flimsy tents and overcrowded shelters that lack basic living conditions.
The system is the third polar low to affect the Palestinian territories this winter, beginning Saturday afternoon, and is expected to continue until Sunday evening, with a fourth low-pressure system forecast to hit the area starting Monday.
*NOTE: Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement and block desperately needed humanitarian aid, including shelter supplies, to the war-ravaged coastal enclave, even though these are stipulated in the first phase of the agreement.

PJS: “706 Relatives of Journalists* Killed in Gaza”
A new report released Saturday by the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate reveals that Israeli forces have expanded their targeting of Palestinian journalists beyond killing, injuring, abducting, or obstructing media coverage.
According to the report, the pattern has escalated throughout the last 2 years into a far more brutal and alarming phase: the deliberate killing of journalists’ family members in an apparent attempt to turn journalism into an existential burden paid for by children, spouses, and parents.
Approximately 706 relatives of journalists in Gaza were killed during this period, with all available indicators showing that these incidents were not accidental or incidental to the broader conflict (continue reading here).
*NOTE: Gaza was named the deadliest place in the world to work as a journalist, with 29 killed in the past year, according to a report on the dangers facing media globally by Reporters Without Borders.

Israeli forces take over homes*, impose lockdown on West Bank’s Qabatiya
Israeli forces sealed off entrances to the West Bank town of Qabatiya, placing it under a “full curfew,” while rounding up and interrogating dozens of residents on Saturday. Soldiers displaced Palestinian occupants of several homes and converted them into military interrogation centers.
The crackdown is reportedly linked to a Palestinian resident of the town who allegedly carried out a stabbing and car-ramming attack on Friday.
*NOTE: International humanitarian law posits that no person may be punished for acts that he or she did not commit. It ensures that the collective punishment of a group of persons for a crime committed by an individual is also forbidden. The imposition of collective punishment is a war crime.
