Palestinian Civil Defense says 137 bodies have been found in Rafah since the start of ceasefire.

Search begins for thousands missing under Gaza’s rubble

Gaza’s Health Ministry said in the past 24 hours, 62 bodies were recovered as the ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli forces went into effect on 19 January.

In a statement, the Civil Defense reported that the bodies of an estimated 2,840 Palestinians had “evaporated” due to the Israeli army’s use of weapons that “produce temperatures between 7,000-9,000 degrees Celsius, melting everything in the center of the explosion.”

Young child killed by Israeli sniper fire: Report

Two Palestinians, including a child, were killed, and nine others, among them children, were injured earlier by Israeli gunfire in Rafah, according to reports.

Sources told Anadolu that Israeli tanks breached a buffer zone and opened heavy fire on civilians. The sources said the military advanced 850 meters (2,789 feet) into the area, exceeding an agreed 700-meter limit outlined in the ceasefire agreement.

The killing marked a significant violation of the truce. No comments have been issued from Gaza authorities, ceasefire mediators in Egypt, Qatar and the US, or Israeli officials.

A video filmed by Palestinian journalist Hassan Aslih and verified by Al Jazeera shows the moments after the child was shot.

A man is seen crawling up to the child to remove the body from the scene but is shot at by Israeli troops, forcing him to retreat from the area.

Israeli army readies ‘major’ West Bank ops, resumption of Gaza, Lebanon wars

The Israeli army’s Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, said on 20 January that Israel must prepare for “major” operations in the occupied West Bank and the continuation of fighting in both Gaza and Lebanon – despite the ceasefire agreements.

“Alongside the intensive defensive preparations in the Gaza Strip, we must be prepared for major operations in [the West Bank] in the coming days in order to preempt the terrorists and capture them before they reach our citizens,” Halevi said during an assessment, according to an Israeli army spokesman.

The spokesman said Halevi also “ordered the formulation of plans for the continuation of the fighting – also in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.”

West Bank: Israeli Soldiers Arrest, Abuse Palestinians

On Monday, Israeli forces carried out a detention campaign, abusing dozens of Palestinians in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilia in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank. In the nearby villages of Al-Funduq and Jinsafut, east of the city, illegal Israeli colonizers attacked Palestinian citizens and destroyed their property.

Sources said that occupation forces stormed several towns; in Azzun, they detained approximately 70 Palestinians, forcing them to lie on the ground, and subjected them to interrogation, humiliation, and abuse.

MORE DETAIL ON THE RAID IN AZZOUN: The Israeli army detained 64 Palestinians, including children as young as 7, during a raid Monday in Azzun.

“The occupation forces stormed homes and a mosque, detaining 64 residents, including children,” said an eyewitness, adding that one was 7 years old.

Those who were detained were forced to lie face down in a public square before being herded to a military camp at the northern entrance of the town.

He noted three residents were hospitalized after reportedly being beaten by Israeli soldiers at the northern entrance to Azzun Sunday evening.

West Bank: Israeli Settlers Wage ‘Vicious Terror Attacks’ Over Prisoner Releases

Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem said Monday that attacks by settlers in the West Bank—carried out with the “full cooperation” of Israeli soldiers, according to one rights group—were meant to “impose a ‘price tag’ for the release of Palestinians” as part of the truce.

West Bank residents shared accounts—backed up by footage that was verified by The New York Times—of masked Israeli settlers in the Israeli-occupied territory burning homes and vehicles on Sunday, with gangs of “dozens of men, some carrying slingshots,” rampaging through at least three Palestinian villages.

In Sinjil, the New York Times reported that dozens of men threw stones and set houses ablaze, injuring several people, including an 86-year-old man.

Villagers in Turmus Aya reported that Israeli police officers did not try to stop at least 20 masked settlers who entered the town and threw stones, and CCTV footage showed Israeli police cars in the area.
