An Israeli-born, Trump-appointed acting U.S. attorney – who has referred to Palestinians as “animals,” called for Gaza to be wiped “off the map,” and suggested “even the children” in Gaza are terrorists – dropped a gun charge against an Israeli immigrant who operated a biolab in Nevada.
Her name is Sigal Chattah.
These developments come after Nevada authorities released an Israeli cybersecurity official on bail following his arrest in a police operation targeting alleged online child predators – allowing him to flee to Israel before stricter conditions were imposed (Chattah sought to distance herself from the fiasco, pinning it on local authorities).
You’re reading this all right. Let’s walk through this thicket together.
In Las Vegas in January, property manager Ori Solomon was arrested on a felony charge of improperly disposing of hazardous waste, as part of an investigation into an illegal biological lab found inside a home also available to rent on Airbnb.
Two people who entered the home’s garage – which held refrigerators containing vials of unidentified liquids – reportedly fell “deathly ill” and “could not get out of bed.”
Materials in the home Solomon managed were “consistent in appearance” to items found in a California lab allegedly used to manufacture unauthorized test kits, including for pregnancy and COVID-19. Around 1,000 lab mice in poor condition were reportedly found in that lab, along with vials labeled with names of diseases including HIV, malaria, and Ebola. Chinese national Jia Bei Zhu – who has been criminally convicted for fraudulently selling COVID tests – was linked to both properties.
Shortly after Solomon’s arrest, he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, because his non-immigrant visa prevented him from owning or possessing a gun.
And then, on May 11, the federal government dismissed the federal charges against Solomon, without prejudice. In their motion to dismiss, prosecutors said that “after a careful review of the evidence and additional information provided by defendant,” they “concluded that the interests of justice require dismissal of the complaint at this time.” No more information was given.
Now, let’s dig into who is overseeing the case: Sigal Chattah, acting U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada.
Chattah is an Israeli-born attorney whose reputation includes incendiary public statements, denying the results of the 2020 election, and fighting pandemic restrictions on churches.
Trump appointed her as acting U.S. attorney last year. She was still serving as Nevada’s national committee woman to the Republican National Committee. Department of Justice ethics rules bar employees from participating in political activities. Nonetheless, Chattah maintained both roles for months.
Chattah’s appointment attracted strong bipartisan backlash, including from members of Congress, watchdogs, and even 116 former federal judges. She responded ominously.
“You know, a lot of these people, I know that they’re scared because I know where a lot of the bodies are buried, because I come from the defense world,” she told 8 News Now.
“Without saying too much about my previous experience as a defense attorney – but when you played that side, you know where all the bodies are buried. Sometimes you even choose the location to bury them.”
Trump extended Chattah’s interim term, staving off formal confirmation by the Senate, even though a federal court ruled she was not “validly serving as acting U.S. attorney.” She has continued in the role even since Trump nominated a permanent replacement.
Chattah has expressed consistent and despicable viciousness towards Palestinians.
On October 7, 2023, Chattah said on Twitter: “Israel will wipe Gaza off the map in less than a week and it’s long overdue.”
She repeated the call three days later.
“Goodbye Gaza,” Chattah said the following year.
In January 2025, she said: “There are no innocent civilians in Gaza.”
A month later, Chattah called for members of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza to be tried for crimes against humanity.
The following week, she said: “There are two million terrorists in Gaza. Liri [an Israeli soldier taken hostage, then freed] was in their homes, and the children, even the children – are part of this. It’s not just those carrying rifles and wearing green headbands. The so-called uninvolved civilians are not uninvolved at all.”
A few days later, Chattah called Palestinians “animals” and said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should “wipe Gaza off the map.”
She repeated that demand.
Now, it emerges that Chattah’s office dismissed a federal charge against an Israeli arrested for illegal possession of guns, in connection with a broader investigation of a fraudulent biolab on U.S. soil.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office told Zeteo it had no comment on the dismissal.
By itself, the situation is remarkable. But it’s also part of a broader picture that should be of great concern.
Since 2003, Israeli soldiers and settlers have killed at least 15 Americans. They have brutalized American journalists, including Zeteo contributor Alex Colston, just this month. Pro-Israel interests have flooded U.S. elections with dark money, producing the three most expensive House races ever, including the recent ousting of Republican maverick Thomas Massie.
And now, a virulently pro-Israel U.S. attorney, occupying her role illegally, per a court of law, is shielding an Israeli from justice in the U.S. legal system.
Donald Trump and his Republican Party are not bystanders. They are active participants.
