Jewish supremacy, anti-Palestinian bigotry on display in Israel – Daily Update

News roundup for Thursday, October 1, 2026, Day 1,093 since Israel began its 2023 genocide on the Palestinian people.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM GAZA:

For some basic info on the Palestine-Israel conflict, go here. For more critical context, skim this, this, and this. To read about a remarkable but underreported, 20-month-long peaceful protest in Gaza against Israel, go here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The number of Palestinians being killed in Gaza is lower since the October 2025 “ceasefire” began, over 345 days ago – about 4 per day, vs. over 100 per day during the 733 days of the “war.” But Israel is actively working (with Trump’s “Board of Peace“) to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its Palestinian population, even as the low-level killing continues. Genocide experts, along with organizations like the United Nations and Amnesty International, maintain that the genocide is ongoing.

Israeli attacks killed two Palestinians and wounded several others across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as Israeli forces continued violating the “ceasefire” agreement throughout the besieged and devastated coastal enclave.

The collapse of breast cancer screening and early diagnosis services in the Gaza Strip is concealing the true scale of the disease, with hundreds of cases believed to be undiagnosed, the Health Ministry said Thursday. It issued the warning in a statement marking the start of “Pink October,” the global breast cancer awareness month dedicated to early detection and support for patients.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM THE OCCUPIED WEST BANK/EAST JERUSALEM:

Every day, Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem endure dozens of incidents like the ones below, at the hands of Israeli soldiers and/or settlers. For background on the West Bank, read this and this. For information on the significance of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, read this and this.)

Israeli Colonizers Kill Palestinian Man Near Salfit: A Palestinian man, Mashhour Shaher Yassin, 51, died Thursday evening after illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers shot him in the abdomen while attacking his home in Yasuf, east of Salfit in the central occupied West Bank.

A village leader said colonizers armed with clubs and firearms attacked the eastern part of the town Thursday afternoon; Yassin went outside to defend his home when the colonizers shot him. Yassin’s nephew was also wounded in the attack.

Israeli colonizers have killed 37 Palestinians since October 2023; only one has been charged.

Nearly 1,900 Israeli occupiers (i.e. settlers) storm Al-Aqsa; hundreds more force their way into ‘Joseph’s Tomb’: Photos and videos posted by occupiers showed them performing Talmudic rituals and prayers, as well as singing and dancing*. An estimated 7,000 settlers have entered the mosque to worship since Sunday.

The Jerusalem Governorate recorded 52,277 settler entries at Al-Aqsa since the beginning of the year, alongside increasing restrictions on Muslim worshippers.

Hundreds of Israeli occupiers also stormed “Joseph’s Tomb” in eastern Nablus early Thursday and performed Talmudic rituals under heavy protection from Israeli forces, according to official sources.

*NOTE: Anyone can visit the Al Aqsa Mosque grounds (known to Jews as the Temple Mount) but only Muslims are allowed to pray there, according to an understanding known as the ‘status quo agreement,’ under which, since 1967, Israel has formally pledged to allow Muslims to pray at the site, while Jews pray at the Western Wall below.

In practice, however, restrictions have steadily eroded, particularly since 2023 (after extremist Itamar Ben Gvir became Minister of National Security). Israeli settlers’ actions have grown bolder and more provocative, as Israeli police have accompanied them. Often, Palestinians are restricted from entering their own holy site during these incursions. Many Palestinians fear this will lead to open conflict.

(More on the Temple Mount status quo here, and more on the dangerous current situation here.)

Israeli settlers target a Ramallah road, and the city’s future with it: Israel is preparing to give settlers access to a main Palestinian thoroughfare in Ramallah, a move that would bring checkpoints and gates to one of the West Bank’s last spaces of free Palestinian movement and affordable urban growth.

How Israel is weaponizing archaeology to annex the West Bank: Across the West Bank, archaeological projects are helping Israel seize land, restrict Palestinian access, and reshape historical memory.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:

Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.

Arab (i.e. Palestinian) party leader forced to withdraw from Israeli elections: Palestinian participation in upcoming Knesset vote continues to shrink with withdrawal of Sami Abu Shehadeh. Political analysts view Arab Israeli parties as potential kingmakers in the election, with polls showing neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition nor the main opposition bloc on course for an outright majority.

The withdrawal came after the Supreme Court indicated that a majority of its judges agreed with a September 23 decision from Israel’s Central Elections Committee to oust him from the race after nationalist political rivals accused him of supporting Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023.

On Israeli campuses, Palestinian students are guilty until proven innocent: A report exposes disciplinary apartheid in Israeli academia: Arab students suspended for online posts, while calls to destroy Gaza go unpunished.

OECD: Israel is no longer one of the world’s most educated nations: Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development says Israeli classrooms are packed, as teacher salaries and government investment lag – just weeks after students’ scores on another assessment had plunged to their lowest level ever.

IRAN, LEBANON, & SYRIA – NEWS & HEADLINES:

IRAN

It can not be overemphasized that Israel is the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.

Trump vows to attack Iran ‘very hard’ if Tehran behind Flydubai flight incident: ‘They’ll be hit very hard, don’t worry,’ US president tells reporters.

How Much Is Israel’s & Trump’s Senseless Iran War Costing You Personally? To be clear, this isn’t the cost of the weapons and soldiers fighting the war, which the Pentagon estimates to be around $44 billion. This is the higher cost you’re paying to fill up your gas tank and to buy products that cost more to move.

LEBANON

Israel has invaded Lebanon seven times in the last half century. Between 1978 and 2000, Israel maintained an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon — Hezbollah was formed to fight that occupation.

SYRIA

Although Israel is not at war with Syria, the Israeli army has reportedly carried out over 1,600 violations inside Syrian territory since August 2025, and demanded the demilitarization of southern Syria – but also vowed to permanently occupy some areas. Some analysts theorize that Israel’s actions in Syria are an attempt to provoke Syria or Turkey into war.
