NEWS & HEADLINES FROM GAZA:

For some basic info on the Palestine-Israel conflict, go here. For more critical context, skim this, this, and this. To read about a remarkable but underreported, 20-month-long peaceful protest in Gaza against Israel, go here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The number of Palestinians being killed in Gaza is lower since the October 2025 “ceasefire” began, over 345 days ago – about 4 per day, vs. over 100 per day during the 733 days of the “war.” But Israel is actively working (with Trump’s “Board of Peace“) to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its Palestinian population, even as the low-level killing continues. Genocide experts, along with organizations like the United Nations and Amnesty International, maintain that the genocide is ongoing.

Four Palestinians were killed and at least nine others were injured Sunday in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip amid continued violations of a ceasefire agreement in place since October 2025, medical sources said.

Amid UN circus, Gaza economy reduced to 58 cents per person per day

Israeli ministers, lawmakers join thousands in push to reestablish illegal Gaza settlements*: Protesters call for return to illegal Israeli settlements evacuated in Palestinian enclave in 2005.

*NOTE: Following the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel intensified settlement building. Twenty-one settlements were built in Gaza, housing about 8,000 settlers, heavily protected by the Israeli military. Although settlers made up just 0.6 percent of Gaza’s population, they controlled roughly 20 percent of its land, affecting about 1.3 million Palestinians living in the territory at the time.

In 2005, Israel unilaterally removed all settlers and soldiers from Gaza, and repositioned its military on Gaza’s edges, sealing off the territory by land, sea, and air. Dov Weisglass, a close advisor of PM Ariel Sharon, stated that the plan was intended to postpone the creation of a Palestinian state indefinitely. NEWS & HEADLINES FROM THE OCCUPIED WEST BANK/EAST JERUSALEM:

Every day, Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem endure dozens of incidents like the ones below, at the hands of Israeli soldiers and/or settlers. For background on the West Bank, read this and this. For information on the significance of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, read this and this.)

Israel Imprisons 39 Palestinian Journalists, 22 Under Administrative Detention*

*NOTE: Thousands of the Palestinians currently in Israeli prisons are administrative detainees, being kept indefinitely behind bars without charge, trial, or access to a lawyer, on the basis of “secret evidence.” A growing number of detainees are children. Administrative detention is intended to be used only in “exceptional” circumstances, but Israel uses it widely. (Read more here.)

Israeli prisons torture their prisoners (and have done so for over 50 years). The Palestinian detainee death toll since October 2023 is around 100, some of whom have not been identified.

Each year, hundreds of Palestinians (many of them minors) are imprisoned for throwing stones, which can carry a sentence of up to 20 years (for Palestinians, not Israeli Jews).

Israel’s Ben-Gvir storms Al-Aqsa’s Buraq Wall to mark Sukkot: More than 1,100 Israeli occupiers force their way into Al-Aqsa complex on Sunday to mark the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and perform Talmudic rituals at the site* under heavy security.

*NOTE: Anyone can visit the Al Aqsa Mosque grounds (known to Jews as the Temple Mount) but only Muslims are allowed to pray there, according to an understanding known as the ‘status quo agreement,’ under which, since 1967, Israel has formally pledged to allow Muslims to pray at the site, while Jews pray at the Western Wall below.

In practice, however, restrictions have steadily eroded, particularly since 2023 (after extremist Itamar Ben Gvir became Minister of National Security). Israeli settlers’ actions have grown bolder and more provocative, as Israeli police have accompanied them. Often, Palestinians are restricted from entering their own holy site. Many Palestinians fear this will lead to open conflict.

(More on the Temple Mount status quo here, and more on the dangerous current situation here.)

Israeli actions ‘paving way for total control’ over Al-Aqsa, says Hamas: Comments come after Netanyahu toured tunnels beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque as hundreds of Israeli settlers raided the holy site.

ISRAELI MEDIA: Smotrich: Israel must ‘go to war’ in West Bank, ‘do there what we did in Gaza’: Finance minister also calls on Israel to annex ‘at least’ up to the ceasefire line in Gaza and the Litani River in Lebanon to make enemies ‘pay a price’ for Oct. 7 and ensuing wars.

Israeli occupiers (i.e.settlers) attack Palestinian American’s home, torch 3 vehicles in West Bank: Mustafa Zaatar says US citizenship offered him no protection during overnight raid east of Ramallah.

NEWS & HEADLINES FROM ISRAEL:

Israel is a tiny country, about the size of New Jersey, with a population smaller than the US state of Georgia – about 10 million (of which about 20 percent are Palestinians), yet it is in the news constantly. As has been demonstrated again and again, however, mainstream media rarely covers Israel news accurately. IAK gets the facts – sometimes from Israeli media sites, where we can get a glimpse inside this country that is rife with turmoil and contradictions, and that receives $63 million a day from America.

Netanyahu met with UAE president during secret Abu Dhabi visit: Reports: UAE did not immediately comment on the claim.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir vows to push for executions, Palestinian displacement if named defense minister: National security minister tells Palestinian prisoner ‘I want to execute you’ during prison visit.

Ben-Gvir vows to kill Palestinian prisoner in campaign video: Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released footage of himself threatening to execute a Palestinian prisoner, as he campaigns for greater power over Israel’s military. “These are the conditions I gave you. But it’s not the end. I want to kill you. I want to put you to death,” Ben-Gvir tells Hassan Salameh, a senior Hamas member imprisoned by Israel since 1996, while flanked by armed, masked guards.

ISRAELI MEDIA: Israel Freezes Aliyah (Immigration to Israel) for Two Jews Over West Bank Activism Protecting Palestinian Communities: In both cases, the protective-presence activists, who did not know each other, had their passports photographed by a soldier or settler. These are the first known cases in which Israeli authorities appear to be violating the Law of Return*.

*NOTE: The Law of Return is an Israeli law passed in 1950 that gives Jews and their eligible family members the right to move to Israel and receive automatic citizenship. Israeli leaders are also considering stripping two Israeli film directors of citizenship.

Under international law, all refugees – including Palestinians – have a right to return to areas from which they have fled or were forced, to receive compensation for damages, and to either regain their properties or receive compensation and support for voluntary resettlement. This right derives from a number of sources, including customary international law and human rights law. 750,000 Palestinians were forced from their homes in 1948, and their descendants are waiting for the international community to enforce their right of return to their homeland. Israel refuses (read more here).

IRAN, LEBANON, & SYRIA – NEWS & HEADLINES:

IRAN

It can not be overemphasized that Israel is the impetus behind US policies and actions vis-a-vis Iran. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing the US to attack Iran for decades, using lies and deception. Under President Trump, he got his wish.

Medicines run short in Iran under US sanctions: Washington’s campaign to isolate the Islamic republic has made securing pharmaceuticals increasingly difficult.

U.S. Marines injured in recent Iranian attack: The previously unreported attack occurred Sept. 14 when Iran struck a ship U.S. forces were on in the Strait of Hormuz, sources say.

‘Better deal’: What’s behind Trump’s rejection of Iran’s truce offer? Experts say Trump sees economic sanctions as key to extracting more concessions but he risks losing leverage.

LEBANON

Israel has invaded Lebanon seven times in the last half century. Between 1978 and 2000, Israel maintained an 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon — Hezbollah was formed to fight that occupation.

Israeli airstrikes continue to hit southern Lebanon despite framework deal

Israel wants US-led force to disarm Lebanon’s Hezbollah: Lebanon prefers the UN to continue to provide peacekeeping functions at the fraught southern border but its mandate expires in three months.

SYRIA

Although Israel is not at war with Syria, the Israeli army has reportedly carried out over 1,600 violations inside Syrian territory since August 2025, and demanded the demilitarization of southern Syria – but also vowed to permanently occupy some areas.

DEATH TOLL – WARS ON IRAN & LEBANON (tentative):
  • United States: 22 since Feb. 28, 2026 (the Trump admin denies this number)

  • Lebanon: at least 4,386 people since March 2, 2026
