Israeli soldiers shot Mohammad Jawabra, 22, in the head yesterday, while he was trying to help his neighbors in the refugee camp after the soldiers invaded it. The bullet caused a skull fracture and serious brain damage. Today he succumbed to his wounds.
Over 60 Palestinians have died in the first 54 days of 2023 – one succumbed this week after a 5-year battle for his life following an injury at the hands of Israel during the Great March of Return in Gaza in 2018. (More than 200 Palestinians, including medics & journalists, were killed during the Great Return March protests that went on for 86 weeks.)
Israeli forces targeted three Palestinian resistance activists in a massive assault in downtown Nablus, but managed to kill at least eight others as well, including a youth. Over 100 Palestinians were injured, many by live ammunition, others by an Israeli army jeep that rammed into a crowd. Israeli soldiers also blocked paramedics and damaged ambulances.

Five more tragic deaths in Israel-Palestine. As Palestinian anger grows against Israeli forces that have killed 45 people so far this year, demolished 34 Palestinian homes, conducted over 1,500 raids on Palestinian spaces, arrested 638 Palestinians, destroyed olive trees, shot at fishermen, and continue to hold 4,700 political prisoners – today one Palestinian was killed after an alleged stabbing attempt (according to the Israeli military – this is unconfirmed), another died in prison of medical neglect, and a third was killed after taking 2 Israeli lives in a car ramming incident. The Palestinian death toll in 2023 stands at 45; 9 Israelis have also been killed (all by lone Palestinian attackers.)
It is shocking that this happened in Palestine just a few years after the Nazi regime was defeated and its concentration camp prisoners (many of them Jews) were freed.
